George and his crew took great care of us!
We booked through our cruise line and weren’t sure what we were going to get at first. We were super nervous when we saw just how many people were there and we crammed into the international style mini buses (not made for tall big and tall folks). But they divided us into I think two boats to go out and then when we were snorkeling, there were at least 2 groups so it was a smaller experience. Once we were on the boat, there was plenty of room and rum punch to go around.
We had 35 minutes in the water snorkeling. Our guide in the water was great at pointing out different fish as well as keeping us “going slow” so we didn’t miss things. I also appreciated his bright red swim trunks, if I found myself having trouble seeing where he was I would just pop under the water to look around for him.
The gear fit really well, and they took time at the start of the trip to make sure everyone had a good fit and felt comfortable. They also checked again to make sure the fit for everything was good when we got in the water. There was a kayak as well that had spare gear too, I don’t think anyone needed it.
The food was better than what we would usually get on the cruise ship in the buffet! Chicken was cooked perfectly and the beans and rice and pasta salad was great as well.
Another bonus, they had a photographer that took pictures of the trip and they were free for everyone. All you had to do was give your email.
We got back to port with an hour + to spare (and that was with our ship shortening our port time by an hour). I wouldn’t have minded having longer on the boat and an opportunity to maybe swim off the boat post snorkeling, but I think that is a product of booking through the cruise line.
I would totally go snorkeling again with Jolly Roger, but I would book independently to avoid a huge group with the cruise lines.

Overall I had fun on the Jolly Roger, just a few things to point out to people who are curious about this. They provide a lunch, drinks, rum and take pictures for you. They offer beginner and Intermediate life jackets as well as googles, snorkels and fins. They try to load you on the bus, on the boat and off the boat and bus VERY quickly. So if you want to sit and/or ride with particular people i suggest you STICK with them. My group and I got separated and luckily my partner was able to board the boat before they undocked from pier with no warning to the passengers. Unfortunately his family got stuck on the other boat. The captain and crew we had were funny and entertaining as well as knowledgeable. Be aware that it will get HOT! so be sure to load up on the sunscreen either on the bus or before the bus while in line cuz shaded seating on the boat is limited. I should clarify they have 2 boats that they load, but don't stop in the same areas. The location of the snorkeling was beautiful with lots of fish, be aware they are or can be jellyfish. We saw a couple but were told they aren't dangerous to us.

We would highly recommend the Jolly Roger Catamaran Sail and Snorkeling for all! We had a variety of ages and snorkeling abilities but everyone was went and were excited to see the variety of reef fish, coral and sponges. The crew really went all out to make our trip grand. They were really friendly, helpful, jolly, and professional. They prepared a tasty lunch after our snorkeling that included “spirited” drinks for those that wanted while playing lively Caribbean music getting many dancing with the rhythm making it Fun!

We were meet at the pier and directed to the bus . It was a. short ride the Jolly Roger. Once on board the crew went through safety and we were on our way. The seas were calm and it was a nice ride to the snorkeling area . The crew was very good at getting everyone ready to get in the water. There were some inexperienced people on board and they keep a very close eye on them . Actually the keep a eye on everyone ,Kayak, and swimmers were in the water with the snorkelers . We swam for about Forty five minutes and then served a buffet lunch that consisted of salad, watermelon ,coleslaw, bean/rice salad grilled chicken all served on plates . The crew was very entertaining on the way back serving soda and rum punched dancing with the guests. I had my cap on and almost back to docks and it blew off. Looking back at the water thinking it was gone I looked up and the captain had caught it. There were eight of us and we all had a great experience . We all agreed that we would do this trip again.

My husband and I had a great time snorkeling with Jolly Roger. The crew was friendly and attentive. They made safety a priority during our adventure taking time to go over snorkeling safety. During our snorkeling, there was a crew member in the water leading us and another in a canoe keeping an eye on us and caring back up snorkeling gear in case anyone had issues with their equipment. I enjoyed our trip and the large amount of living coral we saw. The coral was mostly gray in color, but saw many types and a number of large brain corals. I only wish there had been more fish and other sea life to see.

Filtered water
Filtered ice

The crew and staff are very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Smiles abound! The snorkel trip was fun, my only complaint being that the groups were a bit large, and not much time for independent exploration for advanced swimmers/snorkelers. The return trip was made fun with great music, unfurled sails and a bit of partying. Thank you for a fun adventure!

The weather was beautiful. The boat was lovingly maintained. The reef and the water was absolutely gorgeous. The rum flowed and food was great after we got out of the water. Crew was attentive. Line danced with the guest at the end.I felt bad for the crew member who was selling the t-shirts afterwards. Wind blew a $20 bill off the boat so I replaced it for him. Would definitely do it again.

We were a group of 6 seniors of varying degrees of comfort in and around the water. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the day. The boat was very clean, well equipped and stable on the water. The diving was spectacular with super clear water and an amazing reef with plenty of different fish to see. It was like swimming in an aquarium. There were plenty of crew in and out of the water and they made even those who were unsure feel quite comfortable in the water. The meal they served was excellent and the bar was well stocked! The best thing about the day was the crew onboard. They were a lot of fun and very attentive to everyone. The one thing that really blew us away was that they had a crewmember who was moving all over the boat snapping pictures of everyone onboard. The pictures were then made available to us for free!! In my past experiences with excursions of this type, any pictures taken were only made available for purchase - often at ridiculous prices. We would do this trip again in a heartbeat and absolutely recommend it to anyone interested. Cheers to the Jolly Roger crew.

Roger and his crew were very knowledgeable and friendly. The cost of $125 each is steep for a boat with no head, the lunch consisted of only of pasta salad and they didn’t put the sails up. We understood the reason being not enough wind but we should have been told so we could have made an informed decision about going or rebooking. The whole point of going on a cat was to sail and not putt around.

My husband and I (and our entire group) had an absolutely amazing time! We had fun from the moment we got to the meeting location. Just a short walk from the cruise ship, and we were on the catamaran. The time from dock to snorkel location was only about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the crew passed out all of the snorkel gear and made sure everything fit properly.
Once we got to the snorkeling location, we were divided into 2 groups (experience snorkelers/strong swimmers & kids/beginners/weak swimmers). We jumped into the water and waited for everyone in the group to circle up for the experienced group, then we began swimming. This was my first time snorkeling - however I am an extremely strong swimmer, so I felt comfortable with this group & got the hang of it very quickly. The reef was gorgeous & we were able to dive down to get a closer look (if you wanted to/had the ability)! We probably spent about 45 minutes in the water and the current was very strong.
Once we got back on the boat, the crew quickly set up for lunch, and started pour drinks. The lunch of chicken, rice, pasta salad, and watermelon was delicious. There was plenty for everybody on the catamaran, and a few people even went back for seconds. The drinks (rum punch or coke & rum) were pretty good too! The crew would make them as strong as you wanted it!
Then we sailed around the island for about 2 hours. During this time, the crew blasted fun songs and even joined in dancing with us! It even rained on us, and we still had an amazing time!
The only complaint I would have is there were multiple people in the "strong swimmer group" that definitely were not strong swimmers. This resulted in getting kicked in the face a few times & people panicking when over shallow corals. This is in no way the crew/company's fault, but it was a bit annoying.
Overall, we had an AMAZING time & I would do this same excursion every time I visit Roatan. I wish I remembered the names of the crew members (I only remember Harris), butthank you to the amazing crew for making sure we had a great time!

We saw lots of types of coral, blue tang fish, scorpion fish and many others of which I don't know the name. The guide was very adept at finding things of interest and leading us to them.

My husband loves to snorkel, but I am afraid. May I just sit on the boat while he snorkels?
Written April 5, 2023
Yes you can sit on the boat! BUT they’re also really awesome if you tell them you’re scared they will lead you around on a floatie until you get more confident and will stay close by!

Good afternoon from Roatan. We never snorkel in one location. Depending on the wind and the sea conditions we go to a location that is the best on any particular day. The big benefit of a catamaran.

My son recently broke his arm and is in a cast. He may or may not be able to snorkel. Is there an option to stay on the boat during the snorkel portion if he is unable to snorkel? Can we make a decision about snorkeling once we are on the boat?
Written November 18, 2019
Yes - my 89 year old father in law hung out and took pictures. These guys are super nice and will have no issues with not getting in the water.

Hi everyone, I plan on doing this excursion through RC. In curious as to what transportation gets you from the port and back at the end of the snorkeling experience?
Written September 25, 2019
Good morning we use 25 passenger Toyota Coata buses with A/C.
Written September 30, 2019
Is the places you snorkel safe? For example: sharks/ really deep water? Lol
Written August 20, 2019
Good morning. Of course, there are sharks in all oceans, however, we have not seen any in the locations we go to. The water depth is usually between 10 and 15 feet. Have a great day.
