- Alyssa K1 contributionI love this place! it is my second time here and it is absolutely beautiful. If you’re going to honduras, definitely consider stopping here. HOWEVER, the drink service wasn’t great. they only asked two times if we wanted drink me but would jump up if we walked towards the bar. I would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for my experience with the sales lady. I purchased a massage and she wrote my name down and told me to come back at 10:30 for my massage. I arrive at 10:30 and they tell me that the massage bed broke and that they will come get me once it’s fixed (they even asked me to show them where i was sitting.) Thirty minutes then went by and I saw someone else getting a massage when i was supposed to be next in line. I asked the woman i booked with and she told me that they had booked too many people and that they didn’t have time for me anymore which doesn’t make sense since there were only supposed to be two people in front of me to begin with. I waited 3 hours for absolutely nothing and it was upsetting to be honest. i was refunded but the saleswoman didn’t even offer and apology and was rather unbothered. Little French Key definitely needs more masseurs or a saleswoman who actually knows how appointments work. It’s a great little get away if you don’t want a massage or any drinks though. the cutest little area, however the food and drinks are pricyyy.Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 1, 2025
- PCruiser20 contributionsWe visited Little French Key when our cruise ship docked in Roatan. My brother suggested this resort and it turned out better than I expected. The resort was beautiful with plenty of room and activities for our group of 7 to have a very enjoyable stay. Beach area was exquisite with incredibly clean sand, clear water, and plenty of fish swimming around. My wife and I spent most of the time in lounge chairs on a shaded deck overlooking the crystal clear waters of the gulf. Our waiter was Nick he did an excellent job making sure we all had a great time. They also have a collection of animals that are must see which include monkeys, lions, jaguars, and swimming pigs! Included in the price was a meal chosen by the resort, several drinks, and transportation which was a bargain! You could order different food for an additional cost. I highly recommend this resort whenever you find yourself in Roatan. You will not be disappointed.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 4, 2024
- Amber R1 contributionBeautiful little island with lot's of amenities and sea life. We went in November and were able to enjoy the island without a crowd. Employees were respectful and always had a smile on their face. Only thing that would make this place even better is if it was all you can drink, drink prices were a little high for the size they give you.Visited November 2024Traveled with familyWritten November 26, 2024
- Astryd R1 contributionPros - Beautiful crystal clear waters. There are lots of shallow water areas for little kids to play and swim safely. My three year old had the time of his life at this place. They also have lots of fun stuff for older kids like ropes to jump from, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. There’s plenty to do, you will not run out of things to do here. The less popular side of the island has hammocks right on the water where you can relax and chill. Very peaceful. Cons- the included lunch is a small plate/small portion. Those with a larger appetite might be left wanting more. The place could really increase the portion size in the included lunch. They also take a long time to bring the things you order. Feels a bit disorganized at times. Overall the staff could be a bit more attentive to their guests. Overall, I would recommend this place simply because of the natural beauty of the island and how much fun it is. Definitely worth the money.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 17, 2024
- Jennifer FFullerton, California120 contributionsEasy to get to-the pick up directions are spot on. The staff is nice. The amenities at the location are what they advertise. Even though it rained some of the time and was breezy for the whole day we still enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling-try to find the lion fish that make the sunken statue their home-just don’t get too close- and snorkel around the bar pier to feel like you’re a guest in their aquarium 😊 The food is simple, but tasty and the drinks were as expected. They have great servers-Reme was our server and he was attentive and helpful. We loved our day and are glad to have spent it at Little French Key.Visited March 2025Traveled with familyWritten March 13, 2025
- Angie L1 contributionFrom the start, the reservation process and driver that picked us up was very friendly and easy to work with. We had a large group of 12 adults it was reassuring that they were going to be able to accommodate or transportation to/from our Airbnb. Each couple was able to select the package that best suited them and what they wanted from their experience at Little French Key. The service that we received throughout the island was amazing - so friendly and making sure that all of our needs were met. The lunch included in our package was delicious, along with the beverages. If you enjoy massages - 10/10 would recommend! The grounds were very well kept and the cove was beautiful - those teal, clear, waters were absolute perfection for our all day experience. We would do this 100 times over given the opportunity - thank you for making a lasting memory from our trip to Roatan.Visited February 2025Traveled with friendsWritten March 2, 2025
- kdr05Johnson City, Tennessee6 contributionsWe went on a Carnival celebration cruise and found ourselves headed to Roatan. We weren't sure what to do but a simple google search landed us on Little French Key. The process was easy. They gave clear and concise instructions. Do be prepared to walk a little to get out of the port, or pay for a taxi to get you up the hill. We met with our driver who was very nice and kind. He told us all about the island and what was changing there. He drove us to the location where we paid for our excursion. We paid for the island, the sloths/Monkeys/ parrots etc. and then we paid to swim with pigs... IT WAS LOVELY! We had the best time. I would love to go and spend more time here... like longer than the 6-7 hours we had. Thanks to everyone their for treating us so well.Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 2, 2025
- Lindsi G1 contributionAbsolutely loved LFK!! 3 couples went together during our stop in Roatan with the cruise. The facility is breathtaking and much bigger than I expected. It was not crowded at all and there were plenty of areas for people to spread out to. We did the pig encounter and fell in love with Barbie the pig.The water was beautiful and perfect. If I visit Roatan again, I will be returning for sure. The most difficult part is finding them for transportation. The pictures sent in the email didn’t match our port so it made it confusing and it was overwhelming coming out of the port to find them due to all of the vendors yelling and trying to persuade us to go with them. If coming out of the Royal Caribbean port, exit the small gate past the parking lot and walk along the right side of the sidewalk. Our guide was wearing an orange shirt with a logo and she had our reservation on her phone. Confusing since she was wearing a different shirt than the email stated, but it ended up working out. Hope this helps someone else.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 26, 2024
- Jet7863694 contributionsWe recently visited BIG French Key on a cruise excursion. We were very impressed. The guide explained everything in detail as we rode the bus/ferry over to the island so we were able to enjoy as soon as we arrived. Everything from the pickup to lunch and departure was very smooth and well organized. We were there on a day when there were 100 people and max is around 700 so it didn't feel crowded although on a full capacity day I imagine it would. They had music playing which was nice although the other island also had music playing just across the swimming area and it was somewhat jarring listening to both simultaneously. The lunch was delicious and there was plenty for everyone. We had a really lovely time using the paddle boards, swimming and lounging on the beach chairs/hammocks. We would absolutely return and highly recommend BIG French Key.Visited February 2025Traveled with familyWritten March 9, 2025
- Sharyn W1 contributionThis was my first visit to Little French Key. It was very enjoyable and we loved the setting. We walked through the are twice, when we got there the staff gave us a short tour and then later in the day we wondered around looking at all the wonderful animals etc. This was a family vacation and all of us had a wonderful time!Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 5, 2024

After reading so many positive reviews, I’m still shocked at the horrible experience we had. To be fair, we went during a busy spring break week and there were 5 cruise ships in port that day. We booked through a tour operator, which I would not recommend doing, but we started with a visit to Manawakie Park to see the monkeys and sloths.
We arrived at Little French Key around 10am. When we stepped on the ferry to get to the island, the driver said it was already getting busy over there, but we never imagined how bad it would be. There were zero beach chairs available. Like actually zero. At 10am. Oh wait. We did find some that were broken and literally falling apart. When I spotted a concrete picnic table and went to put our bags down, a staff member informed me that we were in an area that a group of 60 “paid money to reserve” and told us we’d have to find somewhere else. Never mind the $50 per person we paid to arrive on the island with absolutely nowhere to sit.
The tour operator didn’t offer the option for the all inclusive package, so we had the blue wristbands (which basically means you get completely ignored and no one will wait on you). After dumping our four bags and towels on the one chair that we finally snagged when someone walked away from it, we watched the group next to us get multiple rounds of drinks/shots delivered to them by a staff member in a white shirt who completely ignored us. At one point, I got his attention and asked “Can we get some drinks over here?” He replied that he couldn’t help us and we needed a server (is that not what he was?) and he would find someone for us. That never happened. I ended up walking to the bar and standing in line for about 15 minutes to order two drinks and a water. Also, the food is crazy expensive ($25 USD for a hamburger..not even joking) if you don’t have the all-inclusive. And even if you do get the all-inclusive, the menu options are really limited. Seemed like a bait and switch.
The water was beautiful, but there were so many people in it, paddle boards and kayaks coming at us from all directions. It was not relaxing. At all.
I wish we’d gone to West Bay and never set foot at this place. Definitely not worth the price we paid.

We have been going to LFK for years but unfortunately our visit last week was not a pleasant one.
Positive: It is a beautiful island.
Negatives:
We made arrangements directly with LFK for their zipline/full island package. Email confirmation we received said no problem, we can accommodate your group! Well when we get all the way to LFK to pay and begin our day, we were told, "sorry, we can't do any zipline today." If we had known that PRIOR to getting on the shuttle to LFK, we would have made other plans because ziplining was the primary activity our group wanted to do in Roatan.
They let way too many guests on the island while we were there and were not able to handle the crowds. There were people everywhere! No places to sit, impossible to get any service, long waits for paddleboards/kayaks that we had already paid for, etc.!
We waited over an hour to get our lunch plate and after asking our waitress several times where our food and drinks were, we had to leave to get back to our ship.....so we paid a lot of money and never got what we paid for!
We cruise yearly and are frequent visitors to LFK but unfortunately with the awful experience last week, it will probably be our last.
It's an expensive excursion so highly recommend looking at other options while in Roatan if there are multiple cruise ships in port when you are there.

I’ve visited this place 2 times. First time was in 2021. The place was amazing. Beautiful clear water, golden sandy beaches, great food and service. The price at the time was 35$ per person. I came back with my family in Dec 2023 and under the current administration, the place is a disaster and the infrastructure hasn’t been maintained at all. The price now is 100$ with 1 meal and 1 activity included. The receptionist in the entrance didn’t tell us half of the little French key was closed but still charged us full price. When we got there , no one was serving us, the place was like a deserted island. There was trash in many beach areas , bathroom didn’t have light or soap. We had to beg the servers to come take our orders. The meal included was really small and bad also. I don’t recommend visiting this place under the current administration . We even asked to speak with the administrator but no one knew where he was. With the current prices and the place not being maintained at all since 2021 I came, this place has become a tourist trap. I would recommend going to Big French Key instead which is lower price and better maintained but beach is smaller and crowded all the time.

Our Tours Turquesa travel operator highly recommended this visit to us, we paid for the package that includes snorkeling and kayaking. Upon arrival you notice that the facilities are almost in ruins in decay. For all the services you paid for, you have to leave a tip or they will not serve you well. For example, we did the snorkeling well. At 1:00 p.m. we returned to kayak and the manager told us that they were about to close, so we missed it. We wanted to get our things out of the locker and the souvenir shop where they are is already closed. It was 2 p.m. A restaurant guy supported us by opening the door to retrieve our things. The restaurant's food leaves a lot to be desired for the price you pay. At 2:15 pm, when we were waiting for the boat to return us, the entire place was already deserted, even though they closed at 4 p.m., as I understood.

This place surprised us! There are some bad reviews online, but if you look into it, it seems like a disgruntled ex-owner, so be sure to book your reservation through the website (littlefrenchkeyRESORT.com) or contact them through the correct IG page (littlefrenchkey.RESORT).
Because of the confusion, I sent a list of questions prior to booking. I was extremely satisfied with the answers, so I reserved spots. We were given the option to pay in full or pay when we arrived.
Exiting the Coxen Hole cruise port was tricky, but that would be the case regardless of what tour you took. Despite a torrential downpour and a delay in docking at the port, the driver was still waiting for us with a sign. The owner went as far as sending photos and description of the drivers that would be picking us at the cruise port.
The walk to the shuttle van was a little tricky (again, it was muddy because of the downpour), so be advised if you are a mobility aid user like myself. The conversation to Little French Key Resort was lighthearted and the ride passed quickly although it was around 40 minutes.
Once we arrived at the dock, our payment was processed fairly quickly as we already knew which package we wanted and we boarded a small ferry boat to sail 2 mins to the island.
When we arrived, our guide, Jennifer (I believe) took us on a mini tour of the space, including where the animals were, ordering drinks and food, and the beach area.
It was a very quiet day there as it had been raining and I think we were the only ship in port, but we still weren't bothered by staff (in a bad way) and were pretty much given the run of the resort. There were other families there, but no issue with space or service.
BE AWARE, the sand flies were insane. Despite bringing mosquito spray with us, we still got bit several times.
There was a tiny confusion with the horseback riding excursion timing and we ended up missing it because the instructor had left, so make sure that you book your excursion when you get there. We ended up doing the mini pig swim and that turned out to be just as fun. The guide were really good with Barbie the pig and even made sure that we were able to get good photos.
When it was time to return to the cruise port, Cinthia from Roatan Culture Tours was our driver and we had a great conversation on the way back. She was delightful.

I struggle with this review given how wonderful our past experiences were the last two times we visited, but this was far from a good experience. And, this is not what the #1 attraction on Trip Advisor is supposed to be.
For two weeks, I tried repeatedly to book our package on their site with no success. I emailed them multiple times with no response. I used the Contact Us link on their website multiple times with no response. I called the number on their site three times, no answer. I tried using Facebook Messenger and finally got a response, sort of. I was able to make a reservation but no instructions on what to do or how to pay. Two days before our scheduled reservation, I receive a message on Messenger stating the incorrect arrival date.
Upon exiting the ship terminal, we were asked to wait for a few mins for their ‘bus’ to arrive. It then turned into “follow this guy” to an unmarked car parked half a block down.
We get to the registration desk to learn that they don’t take credit card - cash or PayPal only. Would have been nice to know that in advance for a group.
Waiter was really attentive but the overall service was slow. The included lunch plate took 45 mins to arrive. Beers took 20 mins to arrive despite being only feet from the bar. Then our waiter disappeared for a very long time. We ultimately had to request our bill from the bar and leave his tip with the bartender when he didn’t return.
The transportation back to the terminal was the final straw. Multiple “wait here’s” then “wait there”, then “get in this bus”, then some employees yelling to “get off this bus and move to that van”. Absolute confusion and not one supervisor anywhere.
The customer service logistics have completely deteriorated and I cannot see bringing my family back here. Such a shame given what it used to be.

This is a difficult review to write. On one hand this place was beautiful and the service was great and on the other hand we experienced some unpleasantries.
I’ll start with the positives:
Little French Key is beautiful.
The animal sanctuary is full of amazing animals.
By far the cleanest bathroom I have ever seen in the Caribbean thanks to the wonderful woman that service the restrooms.
Service was fantastic - our server, Jackson was friendly and attentive.
Food and drinks were fresh and delicious. We had pina coladas, chicken tenders and nachos.
Now for the unfortunate cons:
The included transportation was an adventure. We found our driver at booth 7 where he asked if we were paying cash or credit. When we said credit he informed us he couldn’t process payment there so we had to go to a second location to make payment. He then took us on a 10 minute walk to his vehicle outside the port. After a 20 minute drive we arrived at a used car lot where we were supposed to make payment but that credit card machine didn’t work either so they decided to finally drive us directly to Little French Key. The total time was 1 hour 30 minutes.
Upon arrival at Little French Key we realized that somehow the 15% tax is only charged when a credit card is used and on top of that another 4% fee for using a credit card . So our visit went from $69 to over $82 per person.
Last and most importantly are the sand fleas! When we arrived we heard a young child tell her mother she had been bitten. We didn’t think much about it until abut an hour later when all 4 people in our group started seeing red bumps on our arms, legs and back. When I asked our server if he know what the bumps were he responded “Oh those are just sand fleas….I get tore up by those all the time”. If they knew sand fleas were an issue they should have warned us. I have been to dozens of Caribbean beached and have never had to deal with sand fleas. It’s been 12 days and I still have to deal with the bites from the sand fleas.
Bottom line: Very nice place but I would not return unless the sand flea issue is resolved.

Dear valued guest,
Thank you for your feedback and review. We are glad that you found many positive aspects of our little slice of paradise and truly hope that you had an enjoyable experience and would visit us again on your next trip to Roatan. We take pride in our establishment, our animal rescue center, and our incomparable service we guarantee all of our guest's satisfaction.
We are disheartened to hear that your visit also had unfortunate circumstances and continuously work to improve in all areas. Regarding the payment issues, Little French Key Resort does not accept any prepayments either online or at the cruise ship terminal. We only accept payments (either via cash, card, or paypal) at our onsite location. This means that guests are not to pay a single dollar until they arrive with our transportation, you don't need to pay before getting on our bus. Our buses and drivers are easily identifiable with the Little French Key logo and are stationed at both cruise ship ports throughout the day.
Regarding the sand fleas: we spray our beaches with natural insecticides twice a day to minimize the discomfort they may cause to our guests.Considering we are located on a natural cay in a tropical region, it is certain that insects will be present as at all locations on Roatan, but we do our best to minimize their impact on our guests' quality of their visit. Additionally, we offer various bug repellents at our location if any guests feel they need a bit of extra protection for their comfort.

We visited LFK on a port day for our cruise. It is beautiful and the staff is amazing. The price is ridiculous though for what you get. For my family of 4, the cost was over $500 (American Dollars), and we were only there from about 9am to 1pm. We did the coral reef package, so that included about 30 minutes of snorkeling, a very light meal, and 2 drink tickets. For that price, it should have been all inclusive. While this place is incredibly beautiful, a Big French Key across the bay has the same views for half the price.

This place is in need of some upkeep, and I don’t feel like you get your moneys worth. The pictures present one place, but the reality is it’s pretty dated. Additionally, the terrible conditions the animals are kept in made us leave early and not want to spend any more time or money there. Even the pigs were being pulled by the tail in the water to take pictures with people.
I will say, the staff was very friendly and helpful, but I wouldn’t recommend Little French Key.

Carnival Cruise has cancelled our stop to Roatan and I had purchased 2 excursions. I have email 6 time for the past 6 days and used the WhatsApp and have not received a response until today to reschedule for 15%. In my email to LFK I also attached the letter Carnival Cruise line sent out that this port was cancelled. This is out of my hands. This is first and last time that I will ever purchase a excursion outside of Carnival. I am not the only one that is getting push pack on not getting a refund. No customer service at this place.

How do we get there ? We will be in on a princess cruise just for the day Dec 26th

Just came back from a process cruise and we visited the little French key facility. Getting there is tough. Once out of the terminal, you have to walk up a big hill , then down a hill and then stand and wait for others to join your group. Once there, it was great. The return was fine as they dropped you off at the terminal. Wish that they would pick up people at the same place.

Is there a weight limit for horseback riding?
Written November 1, 2023
I genuinely don’t know the answer to that. The horses are definitely on the small side. I’m 200 lbs and 5’9” and I would probably not go too much more than that.

The online booking doesn't accept payments, no one answering the emails and the phone# doesn't work. How can I get a hold of someone to book this Saturday 9/16/23?

I am trying to book a package with the sloth farm for October 4, 2023. But the website is not accepting payment. The phone number listed did not work. And I have not received any information by email. How can I get a reservation when my family will be in Roatan?

Do you need a reservation or package to visit Little French Key? Can we just go there and do what we want without an excursion or package?
Written August 17, 2023
You don't need a reservation but depending on how you're visiting the island it is a little ways from the cruise ship terminals. So just make sure you allow yourself enough time to get back. It's actually a small island off of the main island so you have to get on a little ferry back to the main island and then make sure you get a taxi to drive you back. So I'd be sure that you have arrangements for when you plan to leave so that you don't miss your cruise ship.

We are arriving in September and want to visit. I sent an email and a comment through the website but have not heard back. How do we reserve a spot, pay, and arrange travel? Thank you.

We made arrangements for transportation with our hotel to Little French Key the day before we wanted to visit. I don’t think you need to make reservations way out in advance. At the water taxi area you will pre pay for all the stuff you want to do while there…there’s different packages. If you pay with cash it’s slightly cheaper. We used a credit card and was charged an additional fee.
