About Steve's Paddle Shack
My great uncle was one of the first 'gringos' to settle on Roatan in the 1950's and our family has been coming here ever since. I moved down here permanently a few years ago and opened up a business in West End. I was the first to bring the popular sport of standup paddleboarding to Roatan and began offering a variety of tours around the island by water and land.I love Roatan, its natural beauty, its people and the rich island Steve's Paddle Shack is the first Stand Up Paddleboard rental shop on the Island. We offer rentals and excursions to remote spots on the Island that you can only get to by water. Be sure to reserve your Stand Up Paddleboard before you arrive to Roatan. We have some of the finest SUP boards on the market. Stand up and Paddle Roatan now! Steve's Island Tours is now operating tours around the island into Oakridge throught the mangroves in a dory boat. My family started in Oakridge, Roatan in 1959 so the tour has become quit popular. book your east side tour now.

I'm going to put this review here because I couldn't find his tour page :). We had the pleasure of touring with Steve in January of this year. He picked us up at the Mahogany Bay port and was very personable and likeable. He took us straight to Daniel Johnson's to beat the crowds he knew would be heading there as well! He did a great job of getting us there early - we were like #45-49 of guests for the day. He also pointed us toward one of the local artisans who had her wares on display, and I am so grateful! I was able to buy this lovely mahogany tray with matching appertif cups for an unbelievable price! After we were done playing with the sloths and the monkeys he took us on a drive around the area, including down to the other cruise port in Coxen Hole. He recommended a local bar/restaurant for lunch. He said he was there often, and in fact on some days it served as his 'office' - I don't know about anyone else, but I could be okay with that office as well! After we ate lunch we strolled around the West End for a bit before he finally took us back to the cruise terminal to return to our ship. My husband loved the area so much that we are looking at possibly returning for a week's stay in the future.

Steve picked our group of 20 up from the cruise terminal and took us to his beach paradise. It was a wonderful day for all of our friends. The kids loved the paddleboards and the anchored sailboat out in the bay with the swingrope was a big hit. Lunch was delicious with local fish grilled and fried. Just an amazing relaxing day. Thank you!

We had a great day with Verity and Steve. We paddled in Half Moon Bay and realized, after having some issues, that it was too windy and choppy to go out on a longer tour. Instead we jumped off the boat in the bay for a while, paddled around a bit and then snorkeled around the bay. It turned out to be a fun day for everyone. We loved Verity! She was so nice and accommodating and patient! We would highly recommend spending part of your time in Roatan with Verity and Steve!

We took the time to locate Steve's which shares a place with a dive shop next to the Sundowner bar in West End. After being directed to the shack by some bar patrons (we couldn't find any signs) we found it to be closed this was at 11am. The bar patrons told us he shows up when he feels like it and he has a history of not being around. They informed us that the dive shop should have his phone number but he probably won't answer. As to the location of Steve's it is a part of a dive shop pier and a couple of steps from the Sundowners Bar so if your a first timer this may not be the crowded place that you want to entertain a lot of people with your inexperience. Coming into the West End by road turn left and walk a short way down the road to find the Sundowner on the left side. The dive pier you just passed is where Steve's is located. We were directed to take the short walk along the shore of the small bay and get our boards and lessons from a paddle board rental place on the end of the bay...that was the best day we had at that location and learned to paddle board with a guy named Dave who really cares about your experience.

I have been coming to Roatan for approximately 20 years now to visit my father. I used to come visit while I was on leave from the Coast Guard on short trips... Never really got out and did much recreational stuff on the Island. We always managed to make it to an amazing little beach bar called Sundowners... this is a “ MUST GO TO” little local bar if you visit Roatan and Steve has his Paddle Shack nestled right next door. This trip, I took my boyfriend to meet dad and give my FAVORITE sport a go on the island. Here is why I can not say enough about this place or owner... It’s the rainy season here, everyone is pretty much closed down, but Steve came in on an off day and met us, gave us boards for the whole day for an extremely fair price!! There are not many companies out there anymore where you can get this sort of personal and yet extremely professional service. He helped my boyfriend with extra instruction and guidance as well and we had a wonderful experience!! Amazing place! Thank you Steve!!
