I looked forward to this the entire cruise. It was sunny in the morning and then rained in the afternoon so book direct and you'll get transportation from the pier.
From reservations with what I'm sure felt like a million questions to arrival with our driver & guide Tex, I couldn't have been happier Fabulous experience and I'd do it again. They have 3 males, Lightning, Arturo & Flash, and 1 female, Victoria who they believe is expecting so she doesn't want to be around people and eats often I'm told. I love that we were able to see Victoria up in the trees but they honor her wishes, feed me and leave me alone.
Take the taxi up the hill to the driver/guide (totally worth the 2$) - Tex stayed with us the whole time and even made time to stop for balatas on the way back to the pier, where he dropped us off.

The whole experience at AJs was great. We booked through our cruise line, the transportation to the animal sanctuary was very informative, the entire staff at AJs were excellent at educating all the tourists and engaging with everyone. We had ample time at each exhibit, we did not feel rushed at all. I would do this again if given the chance!!!

The booking process was simple and efficient. I contacted AJ’s approximately 3 months before our cruise, it felt almost surreal how reliable they were in response to email questions. Our arrival in the Port of Roatan/Coxen Hole was early and our driver Arnold was just outside the gate holding a sign
with our name on it when we exited. The entire experience was personal and engaging

Go here if you want to wait over 2 hours to see the monkeys and sloths. We are are a family with small children and I would not recommend this place to anyone with small children. The standing and waiting in the sun was too long and didn’t even get to see the monkeys because my youngest was getting impatient and tired. The guy working with the monkeys said “I don’t recommend small children coming in here”. I was so annoyed. Won’t be back.

Everyone enjoyed our stop at AJ's Monkeys & Sloths. Best $15 spent! We had a group of 14 and 10 of them choose to visit and hold the animals. It was the last stop after a long day and everyone couldn't stop talking about it.

We loved this excursion. We cruised on the Jubilee and had intended to stay at Mohagany Beach , however it was crowded and there were no chairs. My 12 year old son was complaining it was boring. So I called AJ's. They had a driver meet us 20 minutes later and take us to the sanctuary. Sherla picked us up and was very professional and spoke about the island. We quickly paid and we soon interacting with the animals. My son was very excited and enjoyed all the sights. We all had a great time. When it was over Tex took us back to the ship. Half way back he got a call and the ladies who checked us in found my ship card had gotten left behind. Tex turned around and took us to get it. Everyone at AJ's was so professional and nice. Also the pricing was much better that what the ship offered. I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Roatan.

The animals are all rescues, our guide was knowledgeable and the love and care demonstrated in the interactions was part of our appreciation. It's a small but intimate reserve. We were able, in small groups, to enter the enclosures. (4 or 5 at a time). A guide was right there being watchful and teaching us about the animals. The cost was $15.00 each and we all agreed it a bargain and an experience we'll never forget.

The entire family enjoyed this experience. The hosts treated us like family and allowed each individual to enjoy there time. You were not rushed thru the sanctuary. You actually got to spend time, one on one with the animals and all of our kiddos had a blast holding each one. THANK YOU for such a memorable time.

Up close and personal! I didn't think much of this at first. My sister and her husband really wanted to try it. Well, really my sister did. We were on the first cruise ship from a US port in over 18 months. Everyone was excited to welcome us back to Roatan. The caretakers looked like local college students. Very knowledgeable and friendly and well spoken.
One word of caution! Watch out for the monkeys when you are in the enclosure with them. They well pick pocket you. (in a fun way.) I never laughed so hard! They are looking for food and other toys to play with. Sunglasses, wallets, phones, etc. Nothing is off limits. Don't worry though, its all in good fun. We had a terrific time and would not hesitate to go back.

My family and I visited AJ with Roatan Tropical Tours with Edder. We had a great time visiting and holding all the fur and feathered friends. The tour guides were very helpful and had a wealth of knowledge. Special shout out to Halston for answering all our questions and adding a little comedy to our tour.

From the cruise port, did people go with a tour group or simply a cab? I have never been to this port so wondering about safety.

How long is the excursion? I am only interested in holding the sloths not snorkeling and I am trying to decode if I can do two excursions in one day my fiance wants to do the boss underwater adventure at 12:30 at ocean connections' dive facility and the boat arrives at 10am on October 3, 2019 so we do not have too much time beforehand. Basically is there a sloth only option that does not take long and we can be taken to next excursion?
Written August 8, 2019
Yes you can only do the Park. Please contact us through our Facebook page for more details.
