All To Ourselves
May 2021
We were the only people there and we had to arrange a time ahead of time when we would come. (pandemic don't ya know). There were three sloths down where we could interact with them and one had a baby - Victoria. They all were so interesting and cute. Never saw one before. The male reached out and put the squeeze on my hand with his three toes and then hung on me for a while. They move so slowly and are so gentle. I loved holding him. Then he went back to eating. There were three others in the trees sleeping. We spent lots of time in the other cages, 2 kinds of birds and then macau monkeys which I also held. It was the only thing on Roatan other than diving that I wanted to do. So glad we were able to!

Wonderful time! You have to go!!

We had a great time at AJ’s!! Never have we had an opportunity to hold a sloth or have friendly monkeys play around us. It was far beyond what I ever thought we would experience. Tex was our friendly guide and he taught us so much about the animals. Thanks so much Ashley and Joshua and Charlotte! You all are so sweet! Hope to see you again.

BEST part of our trip...
May 2019
The entire family enjoyed this experience. The hosts treated us like family and allowed each individual to enjoy there time. You were not rushed thru the sanctuary. You actually got to spend time, one on one with the animals and all of our kiddos had a blast holding each one. THANK YOU for such a memorable time.

A very different experience

Not many people can say they held a sloth but that is exactly what you can do there. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the animals. The Capuchin monkeys were fun and very friendly.

Timing is important, we went just before lunch on a day when there were 3 cruise ships in, had to wait a while until we could go in. But once in it was very interesting.

Sloth and Monkeys!
Jan 2020 • Family
We had the BEST experience with AJ’s. As a wildlife and animal enthusiast, I’m always hesitant with animal encounters, but immediately the care and love that the team has for these animals is clear. Their habitats were clean, spacious, and the animals’ comfort and care came first, even before the guest experience. The team was very informative and super friendly! Overall an incredible, once in a lifetime experience!

Interesting, interactive, but a little ho-hum
Feb 2020
The guide my little group was with began our tour with some information about local medicinal plants. Interesting, but too many "Can you guess..." questions. Next, on to the white faced monkeys. These are really interesting little creatures and people can go into the cage with them; everything out of your pockets first, though! These little guys will explore you and your pockets - including getting INTO your clothing if it's loose enough! Anyone standing too close to the cage on the outside is subject to getting their pockets or bag picked if a monkey is on the wire and can get close enough to reach through. Next you'll get to see one of the Scarlett Macaws and let it perch on your hand or shoulder. A brief break inside the little museum for some island history and a chance to cool off and then it's on to the sloths. Then 2 attendants will introduce you to a couple of the sloths and tell all about them. Everyone gets a chance to hold one and the guides will take your picture with them. DON'T WEAR SANDALS! Parts of this place are a bit steep and you'll do better with shoes on. This would be a great place for kids to visit!

Hello Frank, I was reading the review and looks like you’re mistaking. We are Aj’s Monkeys and Sloths we don’t have a museum and our guides don’t talk about medicinal plants. First we start with guinea pigs, and all our grounds are flat. Would really appreciate it if you remove this review since that is not our place. Have a good day!

Interactive and Oh So Fun!
Feb 2020
We stopped at AJs based off a recommendation of our guide from Rony's tours. We zip lined at the Pirates of the Caribbean Extreme Zip Line right away after getting off our cruise ship. Originally we had selected Daniel's sloths, but this place was closer and our guide though it would be less busy. It cost $15/person. We did have to wait a little bit, but there was plenty of seating and a nice breeze. We were put into a group of ~12 and all had plenty of time to hold/interact with guinea pigs, sloths, monkey, parrots. We never felt rushed and holding the sloths was such a cool experience. The place was also very clean and we didn't feel pushed to give tips (tip jar at the end and no speech, yeah!).
