Woth the trip. Went there with a pickup and saved energy for going down the 600 stairs and back. Went around the laguna. Great mist going and leaving the lake. Mystical and mysterious place.

Absolutely amazing, you can do the hike by yourself, locals are really helpful to point you in the right direction. Best to visit in the morning!

Very cool crater lake located at the bottom of a long, long staircase. Weather changes fast so be sure to bring rain-ready layers with you.

It’s definitely not an easy walk. Specially if you do like me and walk all the way from the highway. It’s so green, so peaceful and so full of nature. And the lake? What a view! Beautiful.

I booked the tour with Xela Adventure via Email and they were responding very quickly. The walk was nice and the guide Daniel just great! He's very knowledgeable and explains a lot about geography, birdlife and the Mayan culture. Thanks a lot!

It takes about an hour and a half of fairly steep uphill walking to arrive at the mirador that affords a view of the Santiaguito volcano. Beware of the platform you have to climb to see it - rickety is an understatement! You the walk...More

You can just go with a pick up in a mirador where you can see the lake from distance. The pick up is not confortable. You cannot walk down to the lake if you have problem for walking. I suggest to go early in the morning... More
