I normally hike alone but this was my first time on Volcan Santa Maria and I decided to go with a guide. Marvin was a superb guide and the pace up and down the volcano was perfect. Marvin is also extremely knowledgeable not only of the 30+ volcanoes in Guatemala but also of the country's history and its rich natural diversity. The conversations with him during the hike enriched the experience. The highlight of the trip was when we were at the summit of the Santa Maria peacefully looking down at the crater of the neighboring Volcan Santiaguito, there was a loud explosion and the volcano erupted in front of us. It was spectacular. I am really looking forward to doing more hiking with Marvin. I unreservedly recommend him and Guate Guides to those who looking for a professional and knowledgeable guide to enrich their hiking experience in this beautiful country.

We did the four day Nebaj - Todos Santos trek. Our guide was Marvin and we had one Porter, Felix. The trek across the mountain villages was very nice! The scenery is amazing, the sleeping places where good and the food was good too. Marvin was very knowledgeable. The tour was very well organized and all the equipments they provided were really good. I highly recommend any trek with Guate Guides.

We did 3 treks with Marvin and all of them went super well! Marvin is fantastic at what he does. He always has a story on everything we see and he was super patient on the fact that we hardly spoke Spanish. We did learn many words with him! What we liked about Guate Guides is that they are flexible on the dates. We wanted to do 3 treks during our 2-week stay and they managed to fulfill our wish. We did Nebaj to Todos Santos (4 days), then Tajumulco (2 days) and Santiaguito (2 days). For Santiaguito, you need to be in good shape, but it it soooo much worth it! :) To sum it all up, I would recommend Guate Guides to anyone looking for a more private type of trek (it was just me, my boyfriend, the guide and the porter) and also to anyone wanting to live the real Guatemalan life!

3 of us did the 4 day Nebaj - Todos Santos trek with Guate Guides. Our guide was Marvin. This was actually challenging but rewarding trek. The scenery, the mountain villages and the people that we came across... Over all, everything was great and well organized. Marvin was very knowledgeable, relaxed and fun to hang around. He's also a great cook. I think the tour itself was very well organized and all the equipments they provided were really good. We're glad that we did this trek with Guate Guides and Marvin. They added so much to our experience in order know more about the history, culture and the life style of the people in the area. I highly recommend any trek with Guate Guides.

We are sorry to hear you couldn't find us. The office was located inside this hotel for quite sometime and we don't understand why they told you that they didn't know us. There was an agreement that they would be contact persons for us. Maybe they decided not to work with us anymore, but didn't tell us. If you would have checked our website, you could have seen that we don't have an office in the city a this moment. And that it's best to call or email us. We are a small 3 person agency and we are often all out to do tours. Our phone numbers are Cell-phones. That's probably the reason you couldn't reach us by telephone at this time. Cellular service isn't perfect in Guatemala and if there is voicemail, it doesn't work properly. To bad that you decided to give us one star. But we now know we have to hurry to have our own office. We hope you had a good stay in Guatemala!
