I normally hike alone but this was my first time on Volcan Santa Maria and I decided to go with a guide. Marvin was a superb guide and the pace up and down the volcano was perfect. Marvin is also extremely knowledgeable not only of the 30+ volcanoes in Guatemala but also of the country's history and its rich natural... More

We did the four day Nebaj - Todos Santos trek. Our guide was Marvin and we had one Porter, Felix. The trek across the mountain villages was very nice! The scenery is amazing, the sleeping places where good and the food was good too. Marvin was very knowledgeable. The tour was very well organized and all the equipments they provided... More

We did 3 treks with Marvin and all of them went super well! Marvin is fantastic at what he does. He always has a story on everything we see and he was super patient on the fact that we hardly spoke Spanish. We did learn many words with him! What we liked about Guate Guides is that they are flexible... More

3 of us did the 4 day Nebaj - Todos Santos trek with Guate Guides. Our guide was Marvin. This was actually challenging but rewarding trek. The scenery, the mountain villages and the people that we came across... Over all, everything was great and well organized. Marvin was very knowledgeable, relaxed and fun to hang around. He's also a great... More

We are sorry to hear you couldn't find us. The office was located inside this hotel for quite sometime and we don't understand why they told you that they didn't know us. There was an agreement that they would be contact persons for us. Maybe they decided not to work with us anymore, but didn't tell us. If you would... More

When planning our trip to Guatemala I came accross the homepage of Guate Guides. From the beginning Jacco was very helpful in planning our itinerary. He always answered to my Emails very quickly and with loads of helpful information. Finally Guate Guides organized everything for our 2 weeks trip through Guatemala. They booked all our transports (shuttles, buses, boats, private... More

We decided to go on the 2 day Santiaguito volcano trek despite some warnings that it was one of the hardest treks you can do in Guatemala. Marvin came to the hotel the night before to give us tents and camping mattresses (all good quality) and to answer any questions we had (a lot). He doesn't speak much English but... More

Our trip to Guatemala was a bit of an "organization nightmare". We needed to stay some what longer at a certain place, but we also wanted to see and feel a lot of nature and culture... Where other agencies came back to us with standard answers and standard tours, Jacco of GuateGuides did not offer anything in his first email.... More

My wife and I visited Santiaguito Volcano in May with Guate Guides. They were super professional, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Saw 4 incredible eruptions from the mirador (viewpoint). They were also very safe drivers which can be rare in Guatemala! Would definitely recommend them.

It is my pleasure to recommend Guate Guides. Jacco organized every detail of my trip with much care and everything worked without a hitch. He recommended and booked hotels which were very good. The guide for the 3 day trek, Marvin, and the porter Felix were great, very patient, kind. The trek itself is not to be missed, amazing scenery,... More
