About
La Galeria celebrates the arts as a whole and provides at the same time a center for local and international artists. We sell a vast range of art work at attractive prices, rare and fine art pieces for collectors as well as unique frames of our own design. The building, a piece of art in itself is located in the heart of Panajachel. Since 1973 we also organize community events, concerts, theatre, cabaret, art movies etc. Our additional show of unique folk art began in the 1920s and continues to this day. Come by for an excellent cup of cappuccino or espresso and get inspired.House recommendations: Cappuccino -

I was treated to a wonderful experience this week. I was intrigued by the building initially and to my delight discovered it was a Gallery. Thomas, owner and curator of this wonderful place was so very generous with his time, sharing a fabulous cafe con leche and giving me a tour of the property. I can t wait to go back this evening for a musical event and then again on the wknd for their annual Christmas Bazaar! Inspirational for me...whimsical and fabulous...

La Galeria is a place a little bit different from the normal tourist-attractions. Entering the property you might be not quite sure, if this is a home or a gallery. But don't worry, the very personal feeling offers you the possiblity to feel more as human than just as tourist. If you want to see more than just the Calle Santander this is the perfect spot!

Galeria is a great sanctuary in busy panajachel. an artsy and quirky space loveingly created and cared for by 3 generations. there is an interesting and changing exhibition of mayan and modern art and also the beautiful esoteric work of resident ,now retired Nan Cruz.
the house and garden and gallery are an inspiring place to visit ,and the family ,staff and volunteers are helpful, gracious and friendly. linger longer and order a cup of tea or coffee.

The owners are charming. The husband is Guatemalan and his wife is German. She is a great cook. He has the art knowledge; is an artist himself and his mother as well. It is small yet interesting enough to spend a day!

This gallery is a must for tourists coming through the area! Thomas and Sabine are a lovely couple who are very interesting to speak to. It's nice to walk in look at the art and maybe get some info on the artists and the paintings. There are more pieces of art such as masks as well. The property itself is also beautiful to see. Some of my favorite paintings come from Nan Cuz who's work is full of fantasy and culture.

The art gallery "La Galeria" in pana is an amazing hidden paradise. From the busy tourist mainroad its just a 5 minute walk to the gallery! Inside the gallery they show intresting art from the region and from all over the world. You also can buy beautiful alternative postcards and prints. But my highlight wasn't the exibition itself, I just fell in love with the whole atmosphere and the amazing garden. I enjoyed a coffee and thomas the owner guided me around the area, where you can find a thousand lovely details. I came back on Sunday morning, because every sunday they offer tasty Pancakes! If you don't want to rush in the mainroad anymore, get here and enjoy a culural break!

This is one of my favorite places in Panajachel, and one of the only real Art Galleries around lovely Lake Atitlan. The gallery features international and local artists, including the intriguing works by resident Nan Cruz. Thomas Schaefer and Sabine Volcker are both owners and collectors themselves, and the family lives on the property with gorgeous gardens, murals and beautiful colonial architecture.

A few of their offerings at different times of the year:

Art Gallery, Theater, Cultural Events, Concerts, Paintings, Postcards, Caffe, Reproductions, Posters, Pre-columbian-art, also gallery shows with European and local artists. Weekly Sunday brunch with fdelicious sour-dough pancakes (crepes) made from a 250 year old yeast culture, fresh juices & fruit, coffees and teas. Sunday mornings to about 1:30 pm.

The art gallery in Panajachel, was begun in 1975, as one of the first art galleries in Central America, with a collection of more than 2,000 paintings. National and International Art. Originals, lithographs, reproductions. Unique Picture Frames ("marcos individuales").

For Art Students, they offer one semester of studies, stay and work a little bit each day on the shores of the most beautiful lake in the world.

This is a must-see when you come to Lake Atitlan. You won't be disappointed!
