Seriously some of the WORST customer service that I have experienced and today's attempt at a haircut was no different. I have been to Rebecana in Cayala four times and each time was more disappointing than the next. Today's visit left me fuming and I did not even receive a service. Pedicures - For a spa in an affluent area they are still using buckets with a plastic bag to soak your feet. Not something you would expect from an "upscale" spa. I could certainly overlook that if the pedicure itself was any good. They do not massage your feet or legs. To me that is pedicure 101. Its the highlight of getting a pedicure and it seriously misses the mark. Haircuts - They did an okay job for my daughter on a previous visit until I noticed that it was not even. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe my munchkin was moving her head. I had my haircut there and it looked fine. They were incredibly slow. after adding the color to my hair the stylist took off for a lot longer than it took to set the color. I figured it was because i turned down the package they were trying desperately to upsell me. 10,000 quetzales for a package. ARE YOU INSANE?!? Good thing I did because I am a busy working mom and it is difficult to find time to do things for myself, like a simple haircut. That cut and all over solid color took over 2 hours. and after today I will NEVER go back. Even with the lackluster experiences and the terrible reviews from friends I went back today because I had a terrible headache and wanted somewhere close to home. I was exhausted and debated about going home to rest but I wanted to use my cherished free time (kids with the babysitter since I would normally still be at work) and get a cut and color. I knew I did not have an appointment so if the wait was too long I would try it another day (likely months from now) . I clearly stated I did not have an appointment but would somebody be available for a cut and color. I was told it was a 20 minute wait. Sure I can wait 20 minutes. I waited and waited and waited. was thinking okay five more minutes and I am out of here. Then somebody came to get me but it was for a pedicure. I explained I was not waiting for a pedicure. She seemed confused but said okay and then went to the desk. I waited five more minutes, and the receptionist said it will be ten more minutes. okay I can wait ten more minutes. that came and went. I was bout to leave when somebody came to get me but she was taking me back to where the massages are located. I was so mad I walked out the door. I took a few steps and was fuming then went back to tell them what terrible customer service they have. I was told 20 minutes and I had been waiting almost an hour. And every time somebody came to get me it was for a service that I was not waiting for. They seemed confused why I was upset and the woman behind the counter was laughing. Suddenly somebody was available but at that point I was not about to stay. I should have been halfway through the service. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Go anywhere but Rebecana. I could add move but those negative reviews would be word of mouth through my friends about their massage and manicure services.

Terrible Service / Terrible Servicio
Jul 2019 • Solo
I got there at 7:30am and the salon was completely empty. I had to wait just because stylists were not very happy of working at all. When i finally started to receive the hair service the stylist said “My next appointment is here, we can no longer provide the service” . It was a completely lost of my time! Service and prices are terrible!

Looking for something to do on a rainy day in Guatemala City? Skip this one!
May 2017 • Friends
Looking for something to do indoors on a rainy day in Guatemala City? A friend and I opted for a massage and facial. We checked out the various options. Given the short notice, some didn’t have any availability and others seemed too expensive. We settled on Rebecana in Cayalá mall, which, while not cheap, was not outrageous, and they had space for both of us. When we reserved, we were told that the 60 minute massage cost the equivalent of about US$26, and the facial about US$45. We verified the prices when we arrived. The massage was soothing but basically just a lot of rubbing. There was no focus on muscles or joints. It was not a professional massage. They also did not offer options regarding massage oil. But, it was ok. It would have been more pleasant if they had not spent so much time during the massage trying to sell us other packages. The facial was good. However, when we went to pay, they charged double, US$90! We were shocked. They claimed the price was based on a diagnosis of our needs, and thus the amount of work they put in. But no diagnosis was carried out, and my friend’s process was 15 minutes longer than mine yet we were charged the same. There was nothing in writing explaining the pricing which was particularly upsetting since we checked prices on arrival. So, if you are looking for something to do on a rainy day in Guatemala, or want to pamper yourself, beware, if you opt for Rebecana! I'm giving it a rating of "1" because it was clearly not worth the price, and for the total lack of transparency in pricing.

Not a good experience. Pay a little more and go to the Intercontinental Hotel.

Made the reservation for two of us for massages. Asked that they be at the same time. Ten minutes late, I went first. My friend went 25 minutes later. No music...it was broken. Loud talking in the hallway. My massage lasted 30 minutes but I was billed for 45. Waited 35 minutes for my friend. Went to pay, the gal asked if I wanted to include the tip with my payment. Really? I would not recommend this spa. Supposed to be a birthday treat...anything but. Our lunch at La Cantina saved the day.

Great massages!!!

I went to the Oakland mall location; it is beautiful and the amazing skills and kindness of the masseur ladies made me forgot of the lack of kindness of the ladies at the front desk!!! Also great prices $23 for an hour massage :)
I will be back, for sure!! Ask for Rosario or Asuncion, they both helped my mom and I with a relaxing massage and nice talk :)

Nightmare customer service - decent massages
Apr 2016 • Couples
I reserved a month in advance two spots for my fiancée and her sister to get a massage as they were coming into town for the weekend. A week before the reservation I followed up to make sure everything was confirmed and they had no record of the reservation. No problem, I just made a new reservation for the same time and day.

We get to the store on the day of the reservation and guess what: someone didn't show up to work so they were not able to provide the service. Instead of being nice and accommodating, they were like tough luck you can come another day. No apology and no sense of urgency to correct their mistakes.

Needless to say, we will look for another option for massages in Guatemala.

Surprisingly good
Feb 2016 • Solo
I say surprisingly good because this spot is located on the third floor of a middle class shopping Mall. I really wasn't expecting a lot when I went in, but they actually have a spa that's hidden behind the major area where they do manicures, pedicures, and hair styling. I had a massage, a manicure and a pedicure for about two and a half hours for 400q (about $53) plus a 10% tip. This is not the cheapest place in Guatemala City to have this done, but it was certainly relaxing and I was contented.

The history of the salon is interesting too because it was begun by Rebecca and she started in her own home. But when she got too many clients, she began to expand. The first shop was this one on 16 Calle in the shopping center Los Proceres, but she has expanded and she has I think at least 10 spas and salons all over the city now.
