This one of the Best Gifts that Nature provides to the people in Antigua Guatemala. You can never tell when is going to be activity up there, but whenever that happens, is always such a show to have the chance to admire the lava flows, the explosions and if you are close enough, to hear it roaring like a magnificient power of nature.

The volcano presented us with an eruption while we were viewing it. It was an ash type of eruption and not lava.

Our visit to Guatemala was very short, but we could not leave the country without visiting Antigua. It is a small city, and worth of a visit!

The terrain is very gravy and it difficulties ascending. It is easy to get stuck by sticks and vegetation. Steep ascending, not so cold. Constant eruptions become more powerful as you get close to summit. You can see Guatemala City, Pacific Ocean, Amatitlán and Atitlán lakes can be seen from top.

The volcanos in Guatemala are spectacular. Their cone shapes make them stand out strong and beautiful. According to the locals well over 2000 people are missing/dead due to Fuego’s violent eruption and pyroclastic flow. Mostly the poor. As stunning as Volcan Fuego is to view.......it is very humbling to see after so much destruction has been done.

It is interesting when active, especially when spitting lava which does not happen often. When the skies are clear and its spewing ash it is a very interesting view.

We were in Antigua when this volcano was erupting. At night, we could see the lava flowing, red colored down the sides. The next day, we actually could see some eruptions and the smoke from the eruptions. Amazing! We were far enough away, and felt safe while we were here.

This is an amazing experience
It starts with an ascent from 2400 to 3500 m at Acatenango base camp
Then there is a very steep and treacherous descent to the inter mountains region followed by another steep ascent on del fuego
At night the eruptions become colorful and amazingly beautiful
It is such an experience to be able to get close to a volcano
