A Fantastic Collection of Maya Masks
Jan 2019 • Solo
On the way to the idol at Pascal Abaj, this museum has wonderful specimens of masks used in Maya ceremonials.

Small mask display
Jul 2017 • Friends
At the foot of the trail up to Pascual Abaj. Small display, not really much explanatory material. Ask around to see active mask-making workshop in town instead. I's hard to find, but the family is welcoming and will give you a much better feel for the tradition. They do have an interesting Maximon altar here.

Closed on saturdays
May 2018 • Solo
I stopped by as I was coming back from pascual abaj and I don’t know if it was closed to a soccer game or do to the fact that it was Saturday. After asking if they would open they said no. So, I didn’t see anything at all.

Cool colourful masks
Feb 2018 • Solo
On the path to Pascual Abaj, I have seen this small museum hosting many colourful masks collected by a proud friendly owner. It is worth a visit.

Go for the view

We walked from town which took around 10 minutes. Unfortunately the museum was closed so we decided to walk straight through it to visit the sacred Mayan ceremony site which happens to be up the hill directly behind the Museo de Mascaras.

It's pretty interesting and the view of Chichicastenango at the top is beautiful.

Cool museum, great tour.

This little museum is on the way to Pascual Abaj. It's small, but the owner will give you a wonderful tour of the mask gallery. A very charming visit, with plenty of amazing masks.
