We booked this tour with Barefoot Rentals the evening before embarking upon this adventure from Placencia, during the pandemic. Megs was very responsive and helpful on the booking end. And we lucked out to get Wilfred as our personal tour guide for the Monkey River Tour! Wilfred made the trip one of our most memorable experiences of this visit to Belize (and we've done ATM, Carocol and Tikal too)! He was an experienced biologist who'd grown up in the Monkey River community, but he was also a philosopher and intellectual conversationalist -- just what the two of us was seeking. Wilfred could identify every tree, animal an bird along the way; he took the extra time to point out all of the small things along the way and made a special effort to draw out the howler monkeys when we got to our jungle hike portion of the trip. We loved Wilfred. Anyone who has him as a guide will be so lucky. What a gift!

This company is amazing!

My husband and I came to Belize on our honeymoon, and we used Barefoot for two services: we rented a golf cart from them for the entire week, and we went on a tour of Mayan ruins and a cave system. We were beyond delighted with the service we received.

There isn’t a lot to say about a golf cart rental, but I do think it’s worth noting that Ian and Megs went out of their way to deliver the golf cart to us, even though that wasn’t the original plan. They were very communicative with us, and they went above and beyond to make the process easy and convenient for us. Having a golf cart on Placencia was great! I recommend getting one if you’ll be there for more than a couple days.

The tour to the Mayan kingdom of Xunantunich was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I were Ian’s only clients that day, and we loved being able to pepper him with questions. Ian is extremely knowledgeable about his country, and we could tell that he loves sharing Belize with visitors. Ian drove us across the country to a Mayan ruin near the border with Guatemala. He stopped along the way to show us his favorite towns and take us to some seriously delicious restaurants and street taco vendors. Ian gave us a top notch tour at the ruin.

After lunch, Ian brought us to a beautiful cave system, where he had contracted with another tour guide to take us on an underground tubing adventure (also highly recommend!).

All in all, this tour was an amazing experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with Ian on the drive. If we had more time in Belize, we would sign up for another of Barefoot’s tours.

Our family of four (2 teenage boys) had a fantastic visit to Belize. We used Barefoot Services for our transportation from the airport to Placencia and back to the airport at the end of our trip. Our drivers were on time, super friendly, and very accommodating, stopping along the way for rests and stocking up food at a grocery store for our condo stay. We also booked day trips to Monkey River and a zip lining / river raft excursion through Barefoot. The day trip transportation was equally reliable, and the guides were great. Monkey River was full of amazing scenery, with crocodile, manatee and howler monkey sightings, and a tasty local lunch. The zip lining/rafting trip was an adrenaline charge - are boys LOVED it and my wife quickly got past her fear of stepping off those zip line platforms to zoom across the jungle treetops.

I have to give HUGE credit to Megs at Barefoot, who was really supportive and helpful in booking our transportation and day trips. Our day trips were planned just a day in advance, but Megs was quick to respond and got our trips set up for us with no problems. I would be really happy to use Barefoot Services next time we visit Belize!

My wife and I just had our honeymoon in Belize. We heard good things about barefoot. But we were mislead. We booked our tour in advance before we left to go to the blue hole and xunatunich. Unfortunately, 2 days before our scheduled tour i unexpectedly fell ill because of something I ate or drank at another place we stayed. My wife contacted them several times prior to our tour to try and reschedule or cancel our reservation. It took them until the morning of the tour to respond claiming that they were closed on weekends. However, they had been in contact with us on a weekend when scheduling. They informed us that they could not change or cancel our trip and that we would be charged the full amount. Since there was no way we could travel we were forced to forfeit all $252.12 USD. They were only accommodating when gaining business not when their customers had a problem. We will never do business with the company again. If you are thinking of traveling to Belize, you are better off booking your tours when you are there.

Tracie I am sorry to see this review: 1. Our office is closed on the weekend. Sometimes out of courtesy to clients, I try my best to respond to emails every day. Sometimes I find myself doing that all day. 2. Feb 23 happened to be my daughter’s very important 13th birthday and it happened to be the day I chose not to live on email for appreciating the quality time I had promised her. 3. We provide an emergency contact number +501 629 9602, we always answer calls because of the number of tours, rentals and services we offer, at times emergencies happen. So calls are always answered. You did not call the number. 4. Feb 24, 2020, 5:39 AM as soon as I saw your email (see below) I responded. Mind you, I responded 3 hours before our office opened. 5. Feb 24, 2020 at 5:50 AM, you responded and asked if you would be charged for canceling. I answered. 6. Feb 24, 2020 at 6:10 AM, you responded and asked about wanting to do a Spice Farm tour that morning at 8 AM. 7. Feb 24, 2020 at 6:31 AM. You say you were waiting outside for our tour van at 6:00 AM for our Xunantunich and Cavetubing tour Based on our communication, Monday, Feb 24 was your last day in Placencia. Your emails are saying you canceled the tour, wanted a refund, wanted to do another tour, but yet at the same time was waiting for our tour van to pick you up for a tour you say you (or your partner) could do. I am so confused. Wow! See our thread of emails below. On Sat, Feb 22, 2020 at 5:42 PM <[Tracie M Email Address> wrote: Hello, We arrived in placencia this evening. We were really excited to go on a tour with barefoot. My husband and I were going on our honeymoon and had set up the Xunantunich/ blue hole tour online via email prior to our trip. They answered promptly when booking , even though we were emailing on the weekend after hours. Then the days before the excursion, my husband got very sick - I contacted them 24hrs to let them know that he couldn’t go. I emailed again later in the day to see what options we had, as I didn’t want to miss out on our $200+ or on the adventure. I was willing to go on a shorter trip solo and forego whatever money we had already paid. They responded at 530am the next day, day of the excursion with no options or help. Saying they’re closed on weekends etc. although they previously answered many times. I was so torn what to do so I just sat outside the hotel at the predetermined time 6am with my bag waiting for the driver to come as I emailed back and forth with Megs. I walked back to our room after 20min and got the last email that they were coming at 630. At that point I was so frustrated with their responses, service and unwillingness to transfer me to another potential tour that I didnt go. I’d never work with them again. Book while in Belize if you have the chance. There are so many other good companies that are willing to work with you.

They scheduled this before our ziplining tour, but we were so exhausted after the waterfall repelling, that we couldn't even do the ziplining. It is super hard, as the waterfall is pulling against the rope you use, and the rocks are so slippery. Between that and being eaten alive by no-see-ums (despite the bug spray), I would not recommend this to anyone except those who are super-fit and adventure seekers.

Ian, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, thoughtful, on time, engaging and fun. He made the drive enjoyable with conversation about local culture and we learned tons about the flora and fauna. The van was clean and comfortable. The booking process was easy and Megs was extremely responsive to all of our questions. We did the Mayan cultural tour and the visit to Zunantunich with the cave tubing. Ian also offered suggestions for good eats. I highly recommend this company.

After we hosted a group SCUBA vacation with 10 guests, my husband and I wanted to visit Placencia on our own for a few days. I found Barefoot Services for a private car transfer from Hopkins to Placencia. Ian, one of the owners, picked us up on time and gave us a very nice and informative ride. On the way, he mentioned that they also offer rental vehicles. As we had already booked with another company, I felt compelled to stay with that reservation, and so he dropped us off there and was on his way.

After a couple hours, and two rental cars that did not work properly (transmission & fuel pump---not just a window that will not roll down), I reached out to Barefoot RENTALS and Services, and asked if by chance they had a car available, and would they pick us up? Within 15 minutes, we were picked up and had a beautiful and fully functional Jeep Compass to rent. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and caring of these people. They absolutely saved the second half of our trip. THANK YOU Ian and Megs!!

We took Barefoot Rental and services on a 3 hour ride from Placencia to San Ignacio. When we hired them, we thought it was just going to be a standard car service and we would nap half the time. We were very wrong. Ian, our driver, turned this ride into a full on Belizian tour. 1st off, it was very clean and Covid friendly. Everything was sanitized, and hand sanitizer was readily available with a full plastic shield between the drivers side and passenger side.
Once we started to drive, the tour began. Ian was incredibly friendly and kind. But his knowledge was what up the trip over the top. The entire ride, he kept us stimulated with fun facts and good conversations. We actually wish the ride would have taken longer. We highly recommend Barefoot. And the next time we go back, we will absolutely be doing some adventures with them.

We opted to try Barefoot Belize Services for our transportation needs while in Belize. Rates are good, service is prompt. Happy to share that they far exceeded expectations.

We needed some last-minute changes to our itinerary and Barefoot was very understanding in accommodating our needs. I found them to be highly responsive, professional and courteous throughout.
