Went out to Laughing Bird Caye with Amir and Baxter from Seahorse Dive Shop in Palencia. The Laughing Bird caye Park ranger gave us instructions and information on the caye and reef. SO IMPRESSED HOW THE BELIZEAN RANGERS take care of this little piece of...More
Laughing birds are the sea gulls. The north end of this island is a bird and sea life preserve. Park lecturers, covered tables, restrooms are available. But your time will be spent diving, snorkeling and people watching. Coral starting to fade but fish are colorful....More

Really beautiful fish and coral. Not too hard to get in water on the west side, but getting out of water on the east side was difficult. It's all rocks. Best idea was to take fins off and step on them to get out. By...More

I highly recommend using Go Sea (Placencia Village, Belize; at the foot of public fishing pier)) for trips to either LBC or Silk Caye. Speak with Jason, and let him know that Joe from Saint Louis recommended him and Go Sea. I have been out with Go Sea many times solo and with guests over the course 5 previous trips to Placencia, and the trips are always a great time / highlight of my stay. Guides, Captain, and food/service are tops. I always check in with Jason upon my arrival in the village, and let him know what day(s) you want to go out. They typically go to different cayes on any given day. You don't need to make a rezi in advance. Just sign up for the day that they are heading to LBC. They include the mask, breathing tube, and fins, but if you like a particular piece of your own equipment, then bring it; I do, but don't expect any significant cost savings for using your own stuff. I like LBC because it is larger than Silk; as for underwater experience, they are both excellent on any given day. Very subjective to try to say which is better; you can't go wrong with either. I go out once a week with Go Sea when I am there for the month, and I go to all the cayes to which they have access.
