This was a place that my fiancé and I planned to visit on our trip to Belize! We love spicy food and are collector of hot sauces so when we found out we were staying down the road (at Bocawina Rainforest Resort, HIGHLY recommend) we knew we would make a stop here. Our tour guide, Dion (?) was so knowledgable and you could tell was proud to be a part of a locally made treasure. We were able to see all of the factory and kitchen and then back to the front for the tastings! There is about a dozen various flavors and they even have jams, pepper jellies and fruit wine! We tasted them all and left with some cheap treats and the fact that you can get Marie Sharp's hot sauce shipped to our home via their website. It seems every restaurant table in Belize has a bottle of Marie Sharp's hot sauce. As factory tours go, this one is middling. But we were guided by Marie's grand-daughter, and got to see the upgraded production facility up close. Marie herself has a great entrepreneurial story, and her brand success makes the visit especially relevant. We compared prices, and--as expected--the range goes from (high) airport shops to (medium) grocery stores to (low) factory shop. While grocery stores often have most of the flavors, the full range is available at the factory, whose shop has other mementos for sale as well.…

We stopped at Marie Sharp's when rain canceled some outdoor activities when traveling through Belize. We had been eating Marie Sharp's every day, so was nice to see where it was made. Tour guides were friendly, and we were able to see a lot. Nothing spectacular, but overall, a good activity for a group if you need something indoors.…
