Booked an eight person tour with confirmations. Was happy to get the tour for $90 (despite other companies being less expensive), we chose Carlos based on the recommendations on TA. Also had it confirmed in writing that it would be only our eight people in a group as that was the maximum number per guide. Was also told we would be in one vehicle and not a bus. A pickup and a five seater showed at our hotel in San Ignacio to pick us up. So three people had to go in the pick up with one riding without a seat belt. I complained during and after and was told that once the tour is booked, there is nothing that can be done about the drivers or the guide. And along the way, an additional person was picked up to take the tour! When we arrived at ATM, we were told that since there was one group of five and our group (enlarged) group of eight plus one that two groups of seven would need to go together (?!). I told our guide, Dany repeatedly that we were promised that our group of eight would need to stay together, but one of the teens didn’t want a scene so he went with the other group. Good kid. Bad form on the group of on site tour guides. The cave itself is a natural wonder and cultural bonanza. The Belizeans are also generally warm and welcoming. The logistics here were very poor though. Sadly, I have to write this as a poor overall experience due to the two items above. Note: this was discussed in advance of posting this review with the company.

We had a great time with this tour! Renan was our guide and he was super knowledgeable! He answered all of our questions and gave us so much info! We had my two kids, 7 and 9, and my parents 65 and 75, and he was great with all of them! We never felt rushed and he was careful in showing us how to navigate any parts of the cave that could be difficult. He would stop and explain everything in detail and made sure we saw it all. Our lunch they made and brought was AMAZING - and it was all set up and ready for us (by our great driver Christian) when we came back from the tour. I emailed back and forth with Anabella when scheduling and she was super accommodating and we were told she made the amazing lunch! Would def recommend! Such an awesome experience!

My 5 friends and I recently visited Belize and stopped into San Ignacio for the first part of our trip. After doing extensive research and reading a lot of reviews, I chose Carlos the Caveman for our tours and I am so happy I did! They were actually one of the more least expensive tour companies and they were absolutely amazing. They were easy to communicate with and responded very quickly to emails. Our first day consisted of touring Xunantunich with tour guide Paps. The Mayan ruins are a beautiful site. We went super early in the morning and were the first group there. No other groups in our photos:) Paps was so informative. Afterwards we did the ATM tour with Magdaleno. The ATM tour is by far one the most exciting and exhilarating things we've ever done. Highly recommend! Magdaleno was witty, passionate, enthusiastic, and so much fun! He was also very safe and took great care of us along the way. Our second day we started with horseback riding through the jungle. I contacted many other companies, and Carlos the Caveman was the only company that would combine this activity with another (ziplining/cavetubing). All activities were so much. I wish I would have gotten the names of all our tour guides. Our driver for both days was Jeremy. He was an excellent driver. He also provided us with a YUMMY lunch both days, prepared for by a family member of the Panti family. The meals consisted of salad, fried plantains, rice, stewed chicken on one day, and fried chicken the next. It was delicious. I would recommend Carlos the Caveman to anyone visiting San Ignacio. They were so awesome. Thank you so much!

Saw lots, learned lots, had so much fun. The team encourages environmental protection and sustainability. Safety was paramount and felt comfortable at all times- even when swimming with the sharks! Thanks Alwin & Harry. Brill!

Did the ATM tour our first full day in San Ignacio and Tikal the day after that - both great, both highly recommended. Magdaleno was top-notch as he guided and instructed our small group of 5 along the ride to the site, as we walked the short trail to the cave and every step of the way throughout the ATM. Very smart, skilled & professional. This tour is not for the feeble or weak of heart, but definitely for those with an adventurous spirit. Jeremy brilliantly handled the driving and preparation of the lunch as well as providing local information along the route to and from the site. Great job! Jeremy picked us up and drove us to the border the next day. He coordinated everything excellently and enabled a seamless hand-off to Daniel, our Guatamalan driver. Traveled through the Guatamalan countryside, picked up our guide, Mr. Luis then continued on to Tikal. The entire tour can be summed up with... "Mind blown!" Educational, informative, historical, metaphysical, cosmic...wow! Thank you all so much! Highly recommend!
