This place is very calming and respectful of it's natural surroundings. The butterfly farm was the most amazing. We saw the Blue Morpho and the Owl Butterflies. We were able to be amongst them. Our guide told us about the life cycle of these butterflies. We even saw butterfly eggs.

We canoed upriver from Table Rock Jungle Lodge and visited the Natural History Museum. Our guide Leonso was very knowledgeable about Mayan history and the flora and fauna of Belize. The museum itself is packed with great displays and specimens. After touring the museum, we walked to the Blue Morpho butterfly hatchery. They are gorgeous and fascinating to watch as they hatch, eat, and rest on your head or shoulder. This trip is a definite must see!

Visited the museum and butterfly house for the morning before having lunch and hiring canoes to paddle back to San Ignacio. The butterflies are amazing. We saw one completely “hatch” right in front of us. They were landing on us all the time. The butterfly house is not really for conservation as the species are abundant in the wild but more for education. A brilliant experience with a knowledgeable guide.

I travelled here with a group of 25 girl scouts. The museum and our guide David taught us so much about the Mayan culture as well as the butterflies. We got to witness several emerge from their chrysalis as well as see their complete life cycle. The butterflies were gorgeous!
