I booked a tour to 2 Mayan sites around San Ignacio, Xunantunich and Cahan Pech, with Maximum Adventures. Both are interesting because it's specicaties: the astonishing necropolis of Xunantunich and the tunnels of Cavan Pech. But must of the interest of the tour resided on...More

We had colourful, knowledgeable guides and enjoyed both our tours with Max. Don't be afraid to go with a smaller tour group, so much more fun. Food in Guatemala was excellent! Tikal is a lot of steps and worth every one. You don't need to...More

One of the main reasons we went to San Ignacio was an opportunity to visit Tikal. We reserved our trip with Max and paid 50% in advance. Got picked up at our residence at noon. Then Max drove us to the border and assured that...More

Max was great. Took all the tours with his company. We chose this tour company as it was recommended by our guesthouse owner. The reason was they did smaller groups than the well known companies like Maya Walk, and Maya walk are annoying if you...More

We used Maximum Adventure Tours for an overnight to Tikal from San Ignacio. It was absolutely worth every penny. I knew I wanted to do an overnight because the overnight gives you late and early admission to the park, meaning fewer crowds and some spectacular...More

We had a great experience with Maximum Adventure Tours. Max made sure that everything was in order and John was an awesome guide. He was very knowledgeable and fit right in with the humor of our group. I highly recommend John and Maximum Adventure Tours.

We got a pick up and were a good drive out of San Ignacio. Max is brilliant and if you email you'll get a response really quickly. Enjoy - I can't recommend him enough - great guy!

Tikal overnight from San Ignacio- coordination issues (3 Replies)
Hiya, My husband and I are planning to do an overnight in Tikal after 3 nights in San Ignacio. Right now I'm looking at working with Maximum Adventure Tours and everything looks good with them. However, I've seen so many amazing reviews of Roxy's tours (and she said that she is available those dates) that I was wondering if anyone can give input on whether it would be worth it to try to figure out transit to Tikal on our own to get the tour with Roxy, or would doing the whole shebang with...More

I'm no expert, having not made my trip to Belize yet, but it is fairly easy to arrange your own transportation and hotel. We are staying at the Tikal Inn and they can arrange transfers to/from San Ignacio for $35 each (at least that is what we were quoted last month). Not sure what the tour with Roxy will cost but I suspect you can do this on your own for a similar cost.

Maximum Adventure Tours for Tikal Overnight (10 Replies)
We are going to book tours for ATM and Tikal Overnight while we are in San Ignacio in July. A lot of people recommend Pacz tours but they are significantly more expensive than Maximum Adventure Tours. For example, Max charges $300 pp for Tikal overnight, and Pacz charges $450 pp. I am wondering if there is a difference in the level of service or quality of guides or vehicles. It seems that they include basically the same things in their tours unless I am missing something. I have been...More

Both are group tours - why not consider a private tour for the same or less pricing? Overnighting at Tikal is fairly simple and a sunrise ontop of the temple is spectacular!
