I really cannot understand people rating this rusty and decaying bridge 4 or 5.
On any TA's other city list it wouldn't be listed at all. It's a kind of bridge you expect to find in rural India villages.
Here, it stands in the very center connecting the northern port side with the downtown south side of Belize city.
The bridge as well the views from it are disasterous and not worth mentioning.

Don’t make a special trip for this. Even if you’re in the neighborhood, don’t worry about seeing it. Nothing interesting, and surrounded by filth. This isn’t a “tourist attraction” - it’s just an example of Belize City having nothing interesting to offer.

This a rusty old iron bridge connecting the two sides of the city. It is heavily trafficked by both vehicles and pedestrians. Not even photogenic!! We drove by in a horse and buggy while on tour but our driver indicated he wasn't allowed to cross in the buggy!! What's that all about? We just kept touring on the cruise terminal side of the city.

The Belize Swing Bridge is a great tourist attraction and historical land mark of Belize. It is the oldest and one of the few manually operated and functional swing bridge in Central America.

The view is breathtakingly refreshing because there are sail boats that lines the Belize river also while standing on the east side of the bridge you can peer into the Caribbean sea!

Superlative- a word meaning of the highest quality and decree.

It’s the first word that comes to mind as your approach the rusty frontier. My mind soars back to my childhood; holidays with the family and other joyous occasions.

The strength is impeccable, I saw a lorry full of watermelons barely flinch as he approached and crossed, needless to say he got across just fine.

Definitely worth the visit, wicked. 10/10

This was a blast. If you are afraid of heights, especially while walking, stay clear, but if you like doing the out of ordinary type thing, go for it!

First of all it is a fun bridge to go over. Second it is very charming. Third if you not a local or a Belizean only go on this bridge you either have a driver or you are on a tour.

If you have limited time in Belize (as we did), don’t waste your time trying to see this rusty old bridge. I had read so much about the history and how this bridge was the heart and soul of the city so it was at the top of my list of things to see. Disappointing doesn’t really describe how put out I was when I saw it. If you happen to be in Belize City, you’ll probably see it since it’s in the center of town. But, otherwise, don’t bother.

This may look just like any other bridge to the average tourist, but I used to see it in its grander days, and I love it. As another reviewer said, it was "swung" by at least 4 muscled men to be parallel to the banks so that boats could go in and out of the harbor (since it's not high enough for very many boats to go under). That's not needed anymore, so the bridge doesn't get "swung" except for weather emergencies when people need to get their boats to safety---so now it's just a famous landmark. Years ago, all traffic stopped on both sides of the bridge for about 20 minutes twice a day while all the boats went in and out. It was fun to watch, and I missed it on this trip.
