Had a great time with Sea Sports - reefs were alive and well, instructor (FishID specialty) was great, nice boat, easy arrangements via email - but for the surface interval. There are a lot of mangrove islands/islets in the area; we stopped at one for our surface interval. See the first photo below; it looks like a beautiful place. Then look at the second photo; this was 10-15 feet from where I was standing when I took the first one. Unbelievable! I suggested to the boat crew and my dive mates that Sea Sports facilitate a cleanup. Hand out some bags and let us pick up this junk. Everyone agreed with the idea, but it will only happen if the local shops facilitate. Sea Sports, I had a great time, but we can make it even better.

Well, after about 2 weeks of being hesitant about booking a “non cruise ship” excursion- I took the plunge and booked a snorkel trip on the barrier reef with Sea Sports Belize. We came in on a cruise ship and I was a little freaked about making it back to the ship on time...but I had no need for worry as our guides made sure we were back with time to spare. I am so glad that we booked with them, it was definitely the highlight of our entire vacation! Communication was excellent and we found the office easily, just a short walk from the cruise port. Victoria was our snorkel guide, and we took the trip with a few other scuba divers- so the group was small, just seven of us, two guides (Victoria and Jose) and our boat captain, Paul. We were outfitted with the correct gear and walked out the back door to get on the boat. Nine miles out, we jumped in and were guided along the barrier reef- it was gorgeous!! Victoria was clearly passionate about diving, she took time to point out the various sea life, telling us names of fish, rays, coral, sponges, sea anemones, and a small shark! She was very reassuring, assessed our skill levels, and helped out if needed. After about 45 minutes, we headed to a nearby island for lunch and a rest. Then we headed back out for another 45 minute snorkel along the reef, floating with the current until we reached Sergeants Caye (a tiny sandbar, basically :)- where the boat picked us up. IT WAS AWESOME! Just a note- we snorkeled with our 8 and 12 year old kids, both who have snorkeled many times and are proficient swimmers. That being said, the reef is not something that you can put your feet down on, and in places it’s easily 10-15 feet deep. It was fairly choppy when we visited, so when we surfaced- the waves would slosh you around a bit. If you aren’t comfy in the water, you will definitely want a life jacket to feel secure. The best part? Life jackets weren’t required (like they are on most cruise ship excursions) so my 12 year old could dive down and get closer to the sea life. Definitely recommend and would go back to visit Victoria, Jose, and Paul in a heartbeat!

We went on the Manatee watching/canopy boat tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and super-friendly. He pointed out a lot of historical highlights for us, so we learned a good deal wout the history of Belize. The boat was small, so we didn't disturb the Manatees like large boats do. We were able to sit and wait for them to come to us! This was a great tour and we definitely recommend it!

We had already chosen Sea Sports Belize for our diving while on a Ponant cruise, but luckily, Ponant also chose them to lead all of the Belize dives, so we got the bonus of having the dive boat tender directly to our ship -- a huge time savings. We enjoyed diving with Rondel, Emerson and Jose on the Barrier Reef and Lighthouse Reef Atoll (plus Great Blue Hole). Really enjoyed the diving and the company and would be happy to choose them again.

We had a great day diving with them! Our guide Jose was great and took time to snorkel with us and tell us so much about the fish. Rodeo the captain was great too. I would use them again.
