We booked this excursion a few weeks before our cruise. Email replies from Vitalino were very prompt. He answered all of my questions and calmed the misgivings I had. There is no deposit required, and the price was $35 per person, which included lunch. Cruises have to tender at Belize and the instructions given to us were very clear and simple. We found the guys with the yellow shirts and they got us on the bus for the ride. It is about an hour ride to get to the river, so if you are doing a cruise excursion, I recommend you getting off the ship as soon as you can. Our ship docked at 8am and last tender back on was 4:15pm. We didn't get to the dock until after 9 and still got back around 3:30, so there should be plenty of time. The van was air conditioned and even though it was March, it was still mid-80's this day, so the A/C was nice. There were 8 of us in this van, not including our driver and guide, but we still didn't feel cramped. Our guide was Alfredo (like the sauce) and our driver was "Roger". I think his name was actually Rojillio. They were both very knowledgeable. Roger really has a big personality and was very entertaining. When we were almost there, we stopped at what I assume was their main office where we paid and there were also restrooms here. We loaded up and went on about 15 more minutes to the park where everything is. Park admission is also included in the price. There were also restrooms here where you can change if you need to. We sprayed down with bug spray here. Either the bugs weren't bad or the bug spray worked, but it wasn't a problem for any of us. We got our helmets and life vests and were on our way. It is a fairly long walk to get to where we tube. It is a well maintained trail, but it still was uneven and had step downs, not to mention 3 different river crossings. If you're not able to make that 30 minute hike, you may want to try a different excursion. We also didn't have to carry our tubes like some people did. Our tubes were waiting for us. Once we got there, we took a few minutes for a very refreshing swim. The water is about 70 degrees, which feels pretty cool after that hike! The actual cave tubing was very interesting. We really enjoyed it. All of our tubes were tied together so we went through in a mass of eight. I know they have to do that so they can keep up with everyone in the pitch black cave. One word of warning, the head lamps that are on the helmets are not very bright at all. They won't let you see much. Our guide had a good light, and thankfully one member of our group brought a flashlight. I would recommend bringing something to see with. Other than that, great trip! When we came out of the cave, most people were getting out there, but we kept on tubing down the river for a ways and finally came to where we made our first river crossing. We got out there and carried our tubes back, which wasn't very far from here. Some people changed before we got back in the van. We did not. We made a short drive to where they do the zip-lining. Two people in our group did that while the rest of us ate. We had chicken, rice and beans, and cole slaw. All of it was very good. A few of us even had seconds! Then they brought out a jug of rum punch. Quite tasty. We were running just a little behind, so the zip liners made to-go plates and ate in the van on the way back. All in all a great way to spend the day. I highly recommend it!

Our cave tubing guide Jordi ("Rooster") and driver Junior were excellent. We were a party of four adults. They picked us up at the airport and drove us back to our hotel after our adventure. Jordi was informative and fun, and the cave tubing experience was refreshing, informative, and a cooling reward after carrying tubes along jungle trail to get to embarkation point. We were lucky to get there mid-afternoon on a day with no cruise ships, so we had the cave to ourselves.

We went on a Carnival cruise March 4 2020 and booked this tour outside of the carnival tours. This is the way to do it. They had us back in plenty of time for our port time. My family of 7 our 5 children (ages 10-21) loved this! Our tour guides were the best JR and Rooster. We meet Rooster outside of the port with a yellow shirt on and a sign. We felt very safe the entire time. Rooster had an upbeat personality and pointed out a lot of interesting landmarks on our drive to the cave. He explained the cultures, currency and map plus more. When we arrived they gave us our helmet and life jackets. The tubes with a covered bottom (no hole) were waiting for us a a short distance to the cave (we carried them a little bit but not long). Other excursions tours had to carry their own tube from the beginning. We took a walk through the rain forest and again Jr and Rooster were very informative. The cave tubing was amazing and stopped and could go swimming if we chose to. Then we packed up. There are restrooms and changing areas were clean! Then we drove to eat a Belizean lunch! It was delicious and my boys had second-helpings. Again everyone was so friendly!
