Our driver from Birds Eye View Lodge took us to the dock where we boarded the boat to travel up the New River to the Temple at Lamanai. Our guide "Amir" explained that these temples were not razed by the Spanish (in search of gold) and later re-constructed so they are not Ruins. I stand corrected. Whatever else they may... More

The motor boat ride takes about an hour and a half, during which the guide points out various birds and crocodiles. The Mayan temples are fantastic to view. You can climb to the top of several temples for beautiful views.

We took this as a day trip from our cruise. We traveled about an hour by van, then reached a spot by the river. Then we took a river boat ride for about another hour to get to the ruins. We walked around the ruins, and could climb to the top on several of them. Overall pretty cool.

It is essential to visit at least one of the Mayan archeological sites while in Belize. We chose Lamanai. Getting there is easy - Our host Mick from Crooked Tree Lodge drove us to the jumping off point (dock). The boat ride (about an hour long) is wild & exciting with lots of wildlife to see - crocodiles, birds, lizards,... More

This excursion, titled Lamanai and The New River Safari, was offered by Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas. We took an hours bus ride into the country while listening to two enthusiastic brothers, Roy and Edgar Lyons, describe their love of their country and wildlife. We reached the head of the river and sped upriver by boat for 25 miles... More

You see many Mayan ruins, the guides are very informative and friendly. Its just a nice feeling knowing that ancient people used to walk on those grounds and what the temples were used for.

The guides were great and very friendly. The jungle cruise was a cool way to get to the ruins and the food was very authentic and delicious. It was also great to get to climb on the ruins and take a lot of photos

We took the boat ride down the river seeing lots of wildlife on the way to the ruins. The guide would stop when he saw interesting wildlife to we could take pictures. Then the guide took us on a walking tour to several ruins. He was very informative and even showed us several plants. The lunch they provided was very... More

Our family of 4 adults thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Upon tendering to the port of Belize City we were escorted to our tour bus where we join a group of fellow cruisers and became "Team BOB". Our lead guide, Adrian, was very charismatic and made for a very enjoyable and informative hour plus ride to the boat dock. This spot... More
