Kris and Kim at Up Close Belize made our short 2 day trip inland work so well. They arranged our hotel for us- Sleeping Giant lodge was a great choice. our horseback riding(scenic and love the foals) and ATM tour(Francisco was knowledgeable, funny and kind) went off without a hitch. we had so much fun! yummy food and conversation, transportation all tended to. I am sharing Up Close Belize with all my friends when I recommend Belize as their next vacation spot. We had a couple snafus that Kris and Kim helped us fix with smiles.

We used UpClose Belize because had a desk in the lobby of the hotel where we stayed in Belize, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the experience.

We did three days worth of tours that included the Blue Hole flyover (amazing!), snorkeling, the Altun Ha ruins, cave tubing, the Belize Zoo, horseback riding through the jungle and a tour of Belmopan. Tristin and Cassie both did a wonderful job taking care of us and setting us up on the best possible tours, always tailored to our group's needs; they made sure we got everywhere we needed to be and made everything super easy for us. And all the recommendations they made turned out great, because there wasn't a single thing we did that we didn't completely enjoy.

We also had the same guide for two of our days, Auner, and again we couldn't have been happier with everything he did for us and how much fun we had; after the first day of touring we had with him, we requested him for for the next day as well! He was full of knowledge about Belize and its history, as well as all of the sites we went to. Auner also gave us a bunch of recommendations for spots to eat and other things to do that all worked out really well, which was above and beyond what we expected.

Overall: a great group of people to work with if you're looking for adventures in Belize!

UpClose Belize was quick to reply on short notice and were so very helpful in our excursion from to caye caulker to our zip lining and cave tubing adventure. Kris and Kim were both so very helpful for the logistics. They gave us all the guidelines and steps to leave caye caulker from the San Pedro ferry to Belize city. We were greeted with a sign with our name from Auner and were quickly put in an air conditioned van with cold water to drink. Auner was our guide and was so very informative, kind, gracious and helpful. I was there with my 3 younger boys 12, 9 and 6 and we all had an amazing time. The zip lining was great, Tubing and was great, and lunch was delicious. Auner, even made sure we made it in time to our water taxi, which we cut close with having 3 boys, lol. 5 stars. Super impressed. Will reach out to upclose Belize and Auner again. This is our 3rd time in Belize and you “better Belize” we will be back again to go with Upclose Belize!

We were looking for both suggestions as well as help in scheduling a 2-day extension after diving on the Belize Aggressor. We discussed my ideas and she came up with an itinerary. it was money saving and perfectly fit our plans. The guides she selected were amazing (Go Gringo and Ignacio). I would highly recommend you consider UpClose for your vacation plans in Belize.

My friend and I had an amazing time with our guide Auner. He was attentive, informational, and just such fun to be around. He definitely made the highlight of our trip to Belize! Not only was he a great driver, but he took great pics for us as well. We will definitely be cooking another tour with Upclose Belize next time we come back to Belize!

Herbie via UpClose Belize led our tour from the cruise dock to the Zoo and then back into the City. We picked a trip to the zoo because our research indicated it was the most appropriate activity for our group (my Senior Citizen parents, my husband, our young son & me). The cruise line didn't offer a trip to the zoo but even if it did, I'm not sure we would have gone that way with a BUS LOAD of people.
Kim who owns UpClose Belize did all the coordinating from meeting Herbie and driving in his clean comfortable van. This man was incredibly knowledgable about the country, its history, politics, culture. The ride just flew by as he shared information. But at the zoo -- OMG -- he was amazing. Herbie knew the facility which is a home to only native animals like the back of his hand. He was knowledgable and had a great manner that extended to all the age groups in our party. His intellect & manner was so phenomenal that other people kept joining our group! Afterwards, he took us back into town and to a local grocery store where before wrapping things up, he recommended local brands of jelly and condiments that we purchased as really unique, memorable & tasty souvenirs (wish we bought more Exotic Sauce!).

I scheduled an excursion with Kim for June 16, 2015 to Shark Ray Alley and Hol Chan marine park. Booking the excursion Kim was very friendly and attentive, however after the excursion was booked communication was poor. I emailed Kim several days before we left for our cruise with concerns about the weather and what we should do if the weather was not in our favor and I did not receive any response. We went on our cruise and pulled into port and followed the directions to find our cab driver (which was confusing and chaotic). After speaking to the driver we were informed that our excursion had been canceled due to weather, the water was pretty choppy. We decided to just stay in port and do some shopping and have a few drinks. While at the bar we were able to access our email through wifi and I noticed that I had two emails from Kim both from that morning, the first email said that our excursion was a go and the second stated that the dive shop unfortunately canceled the excursion but rest assured that I would be fully refunded for the canceled excursion as was their policy. I went on about our vacation with no worries. When we got home I noticed that my refund had not been processed and I sent an email to Kim asking about the status of my refund, this was on June 29, 2015, she responded within a couple hours said that she had been out of the country for medical reasons, she apologized and said that the refund should have been immediate and that she would give it her personal attention that day and process it and she would follow up with me that evening to let me know that it had been done. I did not receive an emai from her that evening but I did receive one the following morning June 30th that stated my refund indeed had not been processed and to kindly give her til the end of the week to process it and she would send me a confirmation email letting me know it had been processed and a copy of the slip for my records, this is the last response I have received from her. It is now July 22, 2015 and I have sent her several other emails trying to find out why I still haven't received my refund, today I finally decided to call my credit card company to try and dispute the charges ($564). Now I have to wait up to 90 days to see what happens. I would strongly recommend using a different company to book your excursions, I feel like Kim not only lied to me but she also kept money for services that were not rendered, I call that theft! PS this was not our first trip to Belize, we have booked excursions with other locals and have never encountered a problem.

Hi Monica, Your refund was indeed processed. Yes, it was late. Yes my communication and follow through faltered during this process. As I mentioned I was battling breast cancer - fortunately my chemo and surgery were successful and I am on follow-up treatment. As I explained to you, things were moving at a much slower than normal pace. I understand that to you it seemed too slow, but between the travel, the side effects, and life in general - time was moving at a different pace. I promised you that I would address your refund, and I did so and it was complete before you effected chargeback claims. Refunding the money itself wasnt the issue.. I bit off more than I could chew trying to keep the business going through my entire treatment. My personal life should not have affected my business. I should have suspended bookings but I can be stubborn! You suffered because of that - and as I said in my emails... I am really sorry. I am not a thief nor a liar. This business of tours / tourism is a tough one. It takes years to build a reputation - but only moments to fail. I am sorry that I did not process your refund sooner.

I booked a tour to Altun Ha and the Zoo while on Caye Caulker; both the lady and the guy at the office were quite friendly and efficient. The tour went pretty well. Kingsley sure is the best tour guide, very knowledgeable and funny! He kept us laughing throughout as we learned a great deal about the ruins and the zoo.
One week later I used their airport shuttle service. They picked me up at the bus terminal in the city just on time. The driver was also quite friendly so this was the best way I could have ended my dream trip.

I came to Belize on a cruise, and wanted to make the most out of my day. I had been to the zoo before, and because it was so awesome, I wanted to go back. But I also wanted to see something new, and was particularly interested in seeing some of the amazing Mayan ruins in Belize. I chose Altun Ha because I heard it was relatively accessible, and I do have some mobility issues. I'm so glad I did this trip, and had Kingsley from UpClose Belize as my guide! We got in earlier than expected, because ship time and local time were off by two hours. We called and Kingsley came and met us immediately, even though the other passenger in our group wasn't expected for over an hour. Kingsley took us for a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant and kept us entertained until we were ready to start. After picking up our other passenger, we headed towards Altun Ha. At our request, Kingsley stopped by a little store and helped us by some drinks and snacks for the day. Once at Altun Ha we began our tour of the ruins. The ruins were beautiful and very complete. Kingsley was very knowledgeable about the ruins and the culture, as well as the history of the region. He told us all about the ruins, and took lots of great pictures of us in front of them. Altun Ha is pretty accessible (I walk with a cane and have back issues) so it was easy to get around. My friend and the other passenger were able to climb to the top of the ruins for some amazing views, while Kingsley found me a nice place to sit in the shade, with great views of the temples. Everyone got to see what they wanted and learn a lot, then off to the zoo!
The Belize Zoo is AMAZING. It is basically carved right our of the jungle. All the animals are local to Belize, and are rescued animals; some were former pets, some injured by hunters or poachers, some orphaned. The animals are literally in their natural habitat. The paths wind through dense foliage, and the wire fences allow you to get really close to the animals, if they choose to come out of their hiding place! Kingsley showed us all around the zoo, telling us about the animals, even telling us their names and individual history. He was really good at spotting the animals, which are pretty well camoflauged! I got to pet a tapir and get up close to many cool animals. Just as we were ending, it started POURING rain. It was a welcome relief from the heat (it was really, really hot) and we were able to get into the visitor center. Kingsley had ordered us lunch, and we ate a delicious traditional Belizean meal of chicken, rice, beans and potato salad. He got us back in time for us to get back to the boat without stress. It was a fabulous day, and our guide was awesome. He always made sure we were comfortable, that we saw everything, that we got great pictures, and were happy! I would definitely use this company again, and ask for Kingsley!
