My family and I met Skinny at the turn heading to the caves where all the independent tour guides wait. He was fantastic, waived us down and offered a fair price. No rush on the tour at all, really took his time explaining the history of the caves. Well prepared guide, friendly....highly recommend!

You'll get your tube and helmet and take off. Your guides will pull you along through the river and will explain everything along the way. Beautiful place to visit. You do have to walk and hike a bit through the woods to get to different parts but its not a difficult walk.

Booked this excursion through Carnival which we do for about 30% of the ports we visit when cruising - we generally go rogue. This was a great day spent in Belize. The lengthy bus ride was made fun with our guide Hermano. He provided us a lot of information about Belize, it's culture, it's history, it's people, animals and plants. We were allowed to see and taste a cocoa bean which he busted out of the larger pod - he said "delicious! sweet and sour". :) A bit self-promoting and solicitous, but I suppose that is expected. Our cave guide, Anthony was awesome. As a Belize-born Mayan himself, he is very passionate about the environment and the longevity of this destination. The caves are amazing. Years ago, we did a different Chukka cave tubing excursion in Belize, but it wasn't anything like this cave and not near as exciting. The cave formations are incredible - unless you're willing to take a really good camera down there and risk it getting VERY wet - it's just too dark. It was fun, Anthony made us feel very safe and taken care ofThe trek up down and around with the inner tube could be a bit much for some folks - and the guides are very helpful - but if our group of 8 needed help with more than one inner tube, it would have put a lot of pressure on the guide and wouldn't have been as fun. Yes - you DO have to be able to bend over and squeeze through a cave opening that is only about 3 1/2 feet high. Yes - wear water shoes! Or rent them there. Lockers are between 6-10 dollars to hold your stuff while you're tubing. Our family of four each had a med-large backpacks: we got two large lockers and stuffed everything in. Lastly, lunch was delicious and the drinks for purchase were reasonably priced.

Firstly the tubing through the cave system was great. Informative guide led us on a trek through Jungle and river before we got to the mouth of the cave system where the more adventurous of us has a dip in the cold river waters before clambering onto our tubes to float through the caverns and tunnels observing bats, stalagmites, stalactites and stunning rock formations. The downsides to this trip are the bus journey of and hour and a quarter ( which was not mentioned when booking) and then hanging about for an hour after the tubing had finished with no organisation as to what was happening. There is a bar and food shack available at extra cost and a gift shop for souvenirs, rum etc. A different cruise line was there at the same time as us and had a buffet included, something TUI might want to consider in the future given the amount of time we were at the sight. The negatives are mainly the cruise lines problems and not the cave tubing centres So if you have the opportunity to visit give it a go we were glad we went.

It's well worth the trip to take this adventure. Each person gets his/her own tube, and they are bound together for your group. Guides are mandatory to help preserve the eco system. There are countless booking companies for this same trip, and prices vary, so do a bit of shopping before buying your tickets. We purchased through Inland & Sea Adventures and had Tariq as our guide. He was fabulous. I also think there are a couple of options for just the cave, or cave and river, and maybe an optional Crystal Cavern. Some of the packages include zip-lining nearby and of course that impacts the price. Although we loved Tariq, we felt misled by the booking company and I wouldn't recommend them. Beware there is quite a long walk on uneven terrain involved, if your'e traveling with someone with mobility issues. Don't worry about your cell phone ... it won't get wet (but you need something to carry it in as you'll need both hands free at times.) We sure loved the cave tubing!
