    Wonderful place
Bacab came recommended to us by the owner of a VRBO that we stayed in. We went one day for a late lunch. It was our lucky day as the manager was on site. We wanted to return another day to experience more of this park. She told us which day was least busy that week, and that’s the day we went. We took a river kayak tour...the two young guides were excellent...He even pointed out a tiny hummingbird nest. Later when we were back, one of them came to find us to show us the monkeys in the trees and also a bit later, the crocodile who was sunning himself. We ate a yummy lunch by the pool and enjoyed the pool all afternoon. The cement slide is super fast and fun. There is a nature path there...informative and well marked. This is a beautiful place, operated by hard working belezians.

    Awesome
My 5 year old and I spend the day at Bacab during our 14 days cruise with AIDA. We just wanted to relax and have a quiet day by the pool so this was the perfect choice. My daughter spent the entire time in the pool (most of the time there were only 3-5 people in the entire huge pool), she loved the water slide. The pool is perfectly clean, the water has the perfect temperature to cool you down if you have done other activities before like the hiking or horse riding. There are mosquitos, yes, but not really around the pool. We had been warned about them beforehand and brought bug spray so we were ok. Our excursion included lunch which was excellent. We'll definitely come back when if in Belize again.

    Lots of fun
Very nice place, with great pools and different activities. Food could be better, but it's not a core of your visit there. Coffee served could be significantly better. However, swimming pools, showers and natural self-guided trails are really well organized. Highly recommend for the weekend with kids.

    THE POOL ON A 101º F DAY
Our visit was a shore excursion from the Norwegian Pearl at $54.00 each. It was already 89º F and 88% humidity when we arrived here about lunchtime so cold soft drinks were the first items we wanted from the buffet. Then, we got into the Belizean BBQ which included chicken, rice with beans, potato salad, and fried plantains. By 1:00 PM, it was 90º F and 90% humidity. We were glad that we had not signed up for the other options of horseback riding or kayaking. We enjoyed the beautiful adult pool and the shade. The pool was very large and about 4 feet deep. It had a waterfall and water slide. The adjacent kiddie pool had a mushroom-shaped water fountain for splashing fun. There were lockers for rent to keep belongings safe. About 2:00 PM, a worker in the gift shop area said that the thermometer hit 101º F and that there was report on the radio that it was 104º F inland. It was back to the pool for us. Late in the afternoon, we were the only two who went to the Wild Wings Butterfly House. It was in between hatchings and near the end of the season, but we did see a Blue Morpho, an Owl Butterfly, and a Postman. Bacab had a nice small gift shop with a variety of Belizean-made crafts. There was also a woman with handmade items at a table poolside. Although we were happy with our experiences of relaxing and keeping cool in the pool and touring the butterfly house, we wished that it had been a cooler day so that we could have walked the Ixchel Medicine Trail to learn about healing plants in that area and to see more the 400 acres---200 of which were the eco park. But, we were glad that we had adjusted our plans for the extreme heat. If you found this review helpful, kindly click YES below.

    AWESOME HORSEBACK RIDE
Went to Belize in December 2014. I went on the BABCABECO PARK HORSEBACK RIDE. It was a short drive from the boat to the stables. Shanna was our guide to the stables. You can ask any question about her wonderful belieze and she can answer it. Thank you SHANNA for a very informative drive both to and from the stables. When you first arrive to the park you are taken to where you would ride the horses. They asked who rode before, how many times etc. After paring the riders with the horses we are off to the Jungle. Inside the jungle there were screaming Monkeys. I found out they were called howler monkeys. You also see these wierd looking leaves which were huge. I won't tell you what was in them for that you will have to take the tour. You will be very surprise when you find out. I must give a big shout out to Mr ALRICK MOODY for making this a very wonderful ride. He is very knowledgeable and makes this ride fun and very informative. If you don't do this FANTASTIC TOUR then you will loose out. One of the better tours then I have taken.

    Jungle Kayak Expedition
Just came off NCL tour this November 2014. Well organized into groups that wanted to kayak, horseback ride or just visit the facility. We have kayaked in Alaska, other Caribbean ports from beaches and we have our own ocean kayaks in Florida. The equipment was simple but well maintained. The guides are friendly, and talked throughout out kayak time, which was about 45-60 minutes. They pointed out everything that they saw from plants to lizards to bats and termite colonies. It started right in a lagoon full of water lilies right off their bar/patio/dining and pool area. Went down a narrow creak into a broader lagoon and then turned around and retraced. Food was all you could eat simple buffet of beans and rice, potato salad, chicken and plantain. Good bar service with very tasty blackberry margarita. No-one trying to sell stuff. Took the margarita on a walk though the jungle path and got another one to drink while sitting around one of the biggest pools I have seen with a rock waterfall. Nice bathrooms and changing area. A buck for mosquito spray and my wife and I were never bitten even once.

    Eaten Alive
This trip is a waste of time and money. If you like to be eaten by mosquitoes, access to only a swimming pool, a 50 minute bus ride (with no traffic rules/regulations), and screaming kids, this is your trip. We paid $39/PP and left with more mosquito bites than I could count. The staff at the Park were NOT friendly and three days later I am still trying to get that awful smell they burned to distract mosquitoes out of my clothes. Our guide, Paula, was helpful as far as telling us Belize (entire country) only has 8 traffic signals and we would see one. It is NOT worth $9 much less $39. I could not wait, and even asked for an earlier bus, to leave.
Sorry you had a bad time on your tour. However all other inland tour uses the same roads with, as you stated, no traffic rules/regulations. On the ‘screaming kids’, we have absolutely no control over the “screaming kids” sent to us from off your ship. On the mosquitoes: This is the tropics and as such, in the rainy season, at times there are mosquitoes. When there are mosquitoes, the whole country has mosquitoes, more so the inland tours than the islands, but the islands have them most of the times also. Mosquitoes are not exclusive to us at Bacab. For this reason we ask that you bring along ‘Insect repellant”. In the event you did not bring repellant, our gift shop has for sale. In order to not be harsh on our environment we opted not to fog with insecticide for the mosquitoes, but instead burn the nuts of the ‘cohune’ tree which gives of an aromatic smoke that insects dislike thereby butterflies and other beneficial insects are not destroyed. The burning of the ‘cohune seed’ was explained very well a few weeks ago on “Naked and Afraid”. You must have missed that episode.

    Quiet Relaxation
We chose this location from Excursions available on our Carnival cruise. It was affordable and offered a large pool. We took a 40 minute bus ride through the poverty-ridden country of Belize and learned a lot of history from our guide. At the privately-owned, 10-year old Eco Park we were treated to an authentic lunch of rice/beans/chicken. We could also buy other food & drinks as well. Bathroom facilities and outdoor restaurant/bar were VERY clean & nice! The huge chlorine pool had a water slide and waterfall. The kids & I had a BLAST swimming freely as it was not crowded and the pools onboard ship were disappointing... We chose not to take the walking tour of local jungle trail as the mosquitos attacked us like CRAZY! Bring insect repellant! This is in the JUNGLE! It is beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. One surprise: Eco Park had strong, free Wi-Fi at the restaurant! Luckily, the kids did not bring their phones, so they still enjoyed the excursion! :-)

    Great Family Excursion
We left the cruise port with Shawna as our bus tour guide and were extremely lucky to get her. She was as wealth of knowledge about Belize and we not expected to learn so much about the island. We had stayed away from Historical / Informational type tours because of the children and we so excited to have gotten one on the bus. She was very enjoyable and the children even commented on how much they enjoyed the ride. Once we got the park everyone was extremely nice. We all enjoyed the water slide and pool. The pool has a nice sitting area around it if you want to enjoy the water but not get fully in. They also have lounge chairs in the sitting area to make it easier to relax in the water. They have a nice medicine walk were you learn about the use of the plants on the land. We only participated on the short tour as you were guided from the bus to the pool area but would have loved to participate. We enjoyed tasting the food from their area.

    Nice day by the pool
We went here very spur-of-the-moment after 2 other excursions were canceled due to flash flooding. It wasn't at all what we had planned but once I arrived I thought, "OK, this will be fine." It was better than fine. Clean, good food, friendly staff and a quiet day poolside, some spent swinging/dozing in a hammock. I probably should have gone horseback riding but honestly I was hitting the mid-vacation slump that day and decided not to.
Hi Michele, thank you for making us your spur-of-the-moment choice and we are glad you enjoyed yourself. We hope to host you again soon and take you on our horseback adventure tour!

We were cruising the Dream out of New Orleans last week and one of our stops was Belize. After searching the internet for info on this small country, I could find nothing that my husband and I were that interested in. The excursions offered on the ship were limited for our abilities. Being over 65, we were not in shape for scuba, snorkeling nor ziplining....although they all sound wonderful. We decided on a family escape excursion to this beautiful oasis, Bacab Eco Park. The pool was delightful, but what we enjoyed most was the journey on the bus to the park. Our guides, Shawna and Shari were not just knowledgeable about their country, but were pleasant, sometimes funny, and treated all of us like family. Traffic was a bit scary, but our driver, was the best. No problems with anything. I would SOOOO recommend this excursion and ask for Shawna and Shari. They were great guides. By the way, the ship does not dock at port, but little boats take you to the shore. The people of this country thanked us over and over for our visit and asked us to come back and to please tell our friends to visit. A wealth of politeness and friendliness.

+ Kimora is a fantastic guide – she thoroughly explained all of the instructions and safety procedures and helped with picking the right bike for each person who needed help – unlike Darren, she waited for everyone to get ready.
+ The bike ride through the jungle (mostly in the shade) was fantastic (even though we didn’t see any monkeys, we heard them). You get a really nice and bumpy butt massage as you ride on top of tree roots and rocks in the narrow (one after another) path through the jungle. There were 3 stops that were made where Kimora explained more about the unique plants in the jungle and waited for others to catch up. She was sincere and very friendly!
+ The bus ride to the jungle was air conditioned – a huge plus! Our guide was pleasant as well and informative (we only wish that the bus guide would not have talked all throughout the 40 minute bus ride).
+ I cannot stress enough how important the shade was in this tropical climate. It made the experience absolutely fantastic!
+ After the bike ride, you get to a pool, which was very relaxing as well – there was time to enjoy it and try the cultural island food which was decent as well.
+ We highly recommend this jungle bike ride – it is in the shade, relaxing, informative, and definitely a beautiful experience, but only and only if, you get Kimora as your guide!!!
