I took a half day tour with Tsunami for the Caye Caulker reef. Rodrigo and his son, Chuckee, were our guides. We made 4 stops.
Stop 1: Guided reef tour. Rodrigo jumped into the water with us and as we swam up the reef, he would stop to show me things. This was excellent. I never had an in-water snorkel guide before, as much as I've snorkeled. He would dive down and bring up crustaceans and echinoderms for me to look at up close.
Stop 2: Self-guided coral snorkeling. I wouldn't get out of the water. This was so much fun and I saw various species of fish and corals.
Stop 3: Sharks and rays! I really loved this one because it was unique. The sharks and rays swim all around you and they are so gorgeous.
Stop 4: Tarpons. Tarpons are very big bony fish. We had them at the National Aquarium in Baltimore where I used to volunteer. I was able to hold fish over the water and have them jump up and to eat it. That was very exciting and I loved it. They're pretty food motivated.

It wasn't quite the season for manatees. They are around, but harder to find. We didn't see any, but saw the presence of one bubbling water.

They provided pineapple and bananas as a snack. Great presentation and the ripeness was perfect.

Our guides were wonderful. Heather is the owner and she was also very helpful in arranging the tour. She was also helpful trying to arrange other tours to make our trip happen. It is low season, and especially during covid, times are hard so prices are higher without groups. We paid more (2 of us) because of this, but it was worth it because it was like we had the reef to ourselves and service was great. Snorkeling is always relaxing to me and it was a highlight of my trip.

Thank you and so glad you had a great time! It was a beautiful day, unlike today, lots of rain, and I know you are waiting to go to Hol Chan.

I booked the tour via email a few weeks before we left. Heather emailed me and asked me to swing by once we got to the island to just check in and confirm we wanted the flight (groups of 5 make the flight cheaper). Everything was great. A golf cart picked us, took us to airport, and we got a quick explanation of what we were going to see. We boarded the plane and took off. We had about an hour in the air. Our pilot was very nice and would point out things to us from the air. He circled the Blue Hole several times in opposite directions so both sides had a great chance to see it. Amazing!!! Once we landed, the golf cart brought us back to the ferry area. Although it was kind of pricey ($185 US per person) I thought it was worth it. Once in a lifetime experience.

We booked 2 trips with Tsunami. We went on the night snorkel, which we had never done before and saw sea life we have never seen previously, including octopus. We happened to do this under the full moon, which made it even more memorable. I would love to do this again. We also went on an Altun Ha tour, which we enjoyed very much. Our guide from Belize City to Altun Ha and back was a man named Tom Greenwood (aka Major Tom), and we will remember him as much as the Maya site - He is not just a guide - the whole of Belize City and its environs are personal to him and it was a great experience all around. Heather was great to work with and extremely knowledgeable and helpful and all went smoothly all around. Highly recommend Tsunami Adventures and will use them again when we return.

Gosh, If only we would have read the reviews on this site before we booked with Tsunami Adventures! We came to Caye Caulker specifically to snorkel at the local reef. We booked the 3 hour Caye Caulker Marine reserve snorkel tour but only received a 2 hour snorkel tour because Canadian owner Heather Martin was greedy & wanted the money for 2 additional last minute cruise customers who positively had to be back in time for the water taxi back to Belize City. I even asked Heather how we could have a 3 hour snorkel tour when the other 2 people had to be back early so as not to miss their ship departure. Heather said "don't worry, you will get a 3 hour tour." The 2 cruise ship customers were ok with their tour being shortened to 2 hours, but we wanted our full time snorkeling and assumed they would take us to another spot after dropping off the 2 cruise guests. Our 2 guides were delightful but very worried about the 2 hour time for the other 2 guests so rushed us through the snorkel stops. The snorkeling was amazing but we were told to get back into the boat even though my husband & I wanted to stay longer. They even took us to the water taxi drop off and told us the tour was over so we should get out! We explained to them we were staying on the island and wanted to go back at least to our starting point so they agreed to drop us off. It was not the guys' fault, they told us they were supposed to do the 3 hour tour with us, but Heather told them to bring the other two back in 2 hours. We tipped them and later that day went back to talk to Heather. We did not request a refund, but thought she should offer some type of compensation. Instead she screamed at us and said it was not her problem, and we should not have tipped the guys on the boat. She said " did you snorkel?" I said yes, and she said then we should be happy. I asked if that was typical to rip people off in Caye Caulker and then she went on another rampage screaming at us about how it wasn't that much money anyway for us to worry about. Later we found out that even though our hotel manager had not referred us to Tsunami, Heather also texted her and told her to never send anyone to her again (not that she did or ever would!) We also heard that Heather may be losing her lease soon...all the better for the legitimate snorkel tours on the island.

hmmmmm….now it has turned to a 2 hour tour. Not sure how I greedy. We had another tour and we work with other tour operators on the island. No one came back early or got short in fact the cruise ship people missed the tarpons and seahorses. When we work together we exchange exact payment. They even seen manatees! This tour was $45US and four people in total went. Here is the reply from the other two people She was absolutely ridiculous and very rude. I will write a good review for you when I get back home Sincerely, Nadia S

Heather, the owner, literally ignored us when we walked into her office while she gossiped with a local about other locals on the island. I finally had to interrupt their conversation in order to get her to answer my questions. I reluctantly booked a snorkeling excursion with her for the following day since we were in a pinch for time. We have no regrets after our day on the water with Rodrigo who was a great guide. In retrospect, Heather seemed a bit impatient and condescending during our email exchanges before we arrived on the island. I wasn't sure at first considering how tone can be misinterpreted via text or email but after our experience with her in person I knew that my instincts were on point. I would suggest ulitizing a different tour company until this woman learns to respect her customers as well as the locals on this island.

I decided to ask around town the morning I wanted to do the Blue Hole scenic flight. Everyone said it was full, too late, or not happening that day. But not Jose at Tsunami. He only had one other person who wanted to do the flight so without a third person, he said he didn't know if it would be possible but we were both determined to make it happen. With lots of communication on WhatsApp and in person, and some back and forth calls to the (awesome) pilot, we decided to pay extra to have it just be the two of us. So instead of the normal ~$250, it costed us $375 a person. While that price is insane for an hour flight, it was totally worth it. It was a much more intimate experience. I got to take the wheel as a private pilot and get us to the Blue Hole, and my new friend got to sit in the back and get views from both sides of the plane. Simply an amazing experience! Just keep in mind, Tsunami offers a complimentary taxi ride to the airport, but not one back, so it's best to arrange that before hand or simply bike there.

Back in March Heather was super rude with us. Guys save your money and book your own tours . Snorkeling or inland tours are cheaper if you do some research in your own . I suggest to ask your hotel before booking with this woman . Save your money and get a nice drink at uno mas before dealing with this lady .

With tourism just opening back up after the Covid shutdown, I was having a difficult time finding a tour company for a night snorkel. Luckily, Heather, proprietor of Tsunami Adventures, said she could arrange a trip. We agreed on a price as this would be a private tour and off I went that evening with Rodrigo for a sunset cruise and night snorkel. He was a knowledgeable and experienced guide; we discovered noctural sea creatures including a huge Caribbean Reef octopus, sleeping Green turtle, lobsters and irredescent squid. This was a first and great way to end my holiday in Belize!

The flight was sooo beautiful. We went with tsunami agency and it was incredible.
The pilot was so nice and the people in the shop who sold us the tour was so kind and faith.
I really recommend it Because it’s a different experience and although it’s a bit expensive, I think it’s totally worth it. You will never forget it.

Three girlfriends did a 1/2 day snorkel and had a BLAST.

I'll preface by saying - I think *my mistake* was trying to book the tour online ahead of time, and do all the excursions early on in our trip without understanding how far the islands are/lay of the land.

We booked for a Tuesday when we were on San Pedro, which we would have had to take ferry back to Caye Caulker - which is doable just not as practical. Once we got to San Pedro, I reached out to ask if we could switch to later day when we were actually staying on CC island. Heather assured us this was totally fine. Everything is so chill in Belize.

Rodrigo was our guide. I've never snorkeled before, but quickly got the hang of it. We saw sharks, rays, a MANATEE, lots of fish and coral, then fed the tarpoons. He was so knowledgeable about the fish and sea life. You could tell his heart was the ocean. Please tip your guides.
