We booked two tours through our hotel (Portofino) - The Snorkeling to Caye Caulker trip and the trip to Lamanai. Both were great. Snorkeling in Belize is legendary, and this tour really shows you why. Best snorkeling guide I've ever had - a beautiful diver who could show you everything and knew where everything "lived." If you want to surface he'd tell you all about it. Saw eels, sharks, turtles, untold tropical fish, rays, etc. It's a long snorkel - about 40 minutes, so it can be a bit tiring. The shark dive (nurse sharks) was also fun. They serve beer or rum punch, snacks, and drop you for a couple of hours in Caye Caulker to find lunch. Laminai - so it was pouring rain when we started - so we rode part of the way under a tarp - but we were all laughing, because, what can you do? When it cleared we got breakfast, loaded into a van, and then eventually took an amazing boat ride through the river up to the site. (Both excellent boatmen - the ride was a blast.) Once there, the tour guide was well-informed, talked about various views on what we were seeing, had answers to any questions. Lamanai is a big site - 500+ ruins. We only saw 6 - several temples, a residence, a ball court. All of it fascinating, and it was beautiful just to walk the grounds. From the top of the Jaguar temple, there's a great view of the river. We lucked into a large and loud troop of howler monkeys - an amazing experience I hope you get as well. Lunch was served before the ride back: stew chicken and beans and rice - very good. On the ride back - more cold and more rain - the guides kept a good spirit through it all. One of those experiences that you wouldn't change, even though it doesn't sound great on the face of it.

In February my wife and I booked a sunset cruise around San Pedro. Everything was perfect. Ivor, our captain, and James, our DJ, made the trip so much fun -- they took us on a wonderful tour of San Pedro, pointing out many local features. The highlight of the trip was watching the stars pass us by after the sun had set. My wife continues to talk about this being the highlight of our trip to this day. We would recommend this sailboat tour to anyone! Thank you James and Ivor!!

My family went on a full-day snorkeling trip (Mexico Rocks) with James and Ivar. We had SO much fun and were laughing the whole time with them. I never thought my mom would snorkel. She was so scared but James NEVER left her side. He was so calm and so kind to her. Anyone could have just let her stay in the boat, and she would have been fine to do that, but he truly wanted her to experience how cool it was and she LOVED it. God bless them. It's the humanity you don't see in the world all too often! We cant wait to come back t visit them!

We booked the zipline and cave tubing for my wife and one of our adult daughters ahead of our trip to San Pedro ... initially filled out an online form on their website, but didn't get a response within a week. Highly suggest if you're going to contact them, use their e-mail since they responded to that immediately. Paperwork was a breeze ahead of time by e-mail, as was payment. Unfortunately, it had rained for several days before our arrival, so the cave tubing was a no go as the caves were considered flooded. No problem, they switched that to a Mayan ruins trip and explained it to everyone when they showed up at the shop for departure. Both my wife and daughter really enjoyed the ziplining, and my wife REALLY enjoyed the Mayan ruins. Even my daughter, who's not that into cultural attractions, said she enjoyed it, and their guide was literally a non-stop fountain of knowledge. A word to the wise, we didn't know ahead of time, but apparently it's best to book the mainland trips on Mondays and Fridays ... the cruise ships dock in Belize City mid week, and the same locations are used for their shore excurions. So on a Monday, it was my wife, daughter and only 4 others on the tour compared to a full-up crowd.
