Having gone down there a few times I would recommend hiking pants that zip off to shorts or just shorts. Standard T-shirts work just fine. Hiking shoes aren't a necessity as Xunantunich is very accessible but I don't think flip flops or anything like that is going to be ok. Climbing the temples can be taxing depending on your level of fitness. A decent backpack is always handy to carry things like cameras, go pros, etc. I highly recommend in addition to liberal amounts of bug spray, coat your clothing with permethrin if you can. For the cave tubing I would recommend some closed toe water shoes. The cave tour typically requires the closed toe. (no flip flops or sandals). That way your not worrying about drying out a wet pair of sneakers while your there. I bought a pair for $20 on amazon. The water shoes will dry much quicker. As for what to wear for the cave tubing, I typically just wear an older bathing suit, you may be doing some rock scrambling in the caves to look at artifacts depending on the tour. If you want to get yourself a dry bag, it can help if you want to bring cameras or whatever with you cave tubing.
