About
The 40 foot Sirena Azul(Blue Mermaid) is made out of hardwoods found in Belize, including Santa Maria, Bullet and Mahogany. The owners of Blue Tang Inn wanted a traditional sailboat that modeled the typical fishing boats in Belize. They hired local boat builders in a small Belize village to build this elegant yet traditional sailboat. Hop aboard for a fun filled day snorkeling the barrier reef and enjoying breathtaking sunsets in the tropics.

Had the most amazing time with Brandon and David on the half day snorkeling tour. Brandon was full of stories and jokes that kept us laughing as well as information and facts about Belize and living there. David was able to point out so many different fish to us and we even saw a mana ray! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

This was an amazing trip! I have extensive experience as a sailboat captain (charters/deliveries of small to large vessels, personal owner, US NC Master) and Capt. George is one of the best I have ever seen. Watching him straddle the tiller and trim sails without the aid of winches ( while still remaining part of the conversation) in good wind was a highlight for me. The knowledge of George and Edwin (Buddha) concerning the boat, the island and the waters was amazing. Buddha even puts the fishing rod out and makes some tasty, fresh ceviche along the way. Sirens takes smaller groups so the trip is very personal and accommodating. The crew is very safety oriented both on and in the water. We could have skipped the snorkeling and I still would have been extremely happy!!

I have read some other reviews and want to mention that this is a real sailboat. It is not like most catamaran trips where the sails are up but the motor is still on. You really sail to and from the snorkel sites so it takes a little bit. But there is nothing that compares to the sound when the engine is cut and all you hear is wind and water. So if you never have really sailed before you should give this one a try! You will not regret or forget it!

Thanks Capt. George and Buddha for making a good stay on San Pedro fantastic!

Most locals in Belize just try to get you to spend more money. This was not like that AT ALL. Edwin and George were extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Edwin is a great diver and shows that he truly loves what he does. He went above and beyond for our group and proved he really was a man of his word.

My husband and I booked a snorkeling tour and we were lucky to choose Sirena Azul because David and Victor were excellent guides. Victor went in the water with us and showed us eels and sharks hiding under the coral. He really loves to talk about the fish and share his knowledge of the sea life there. We got to see a few sea turtles, fish and a manatee at the first stop. We got watermelon and cold water after our first swim. It was a great experience.

The Sirena Azul Sunset Cruise on Ambergris Caye was one of the highlights of our trip! Edwin and Mark were very attentive to all the guests serving beer, rum punch and delicious ceviche. We sailed to a spectacular spot south of the island near the reef to view a gorgeous sunset! The crew was very friendly sharing their knowledge of the area and their fascinating island lifestyles in paradise. When we come back we will definitely choose another tour with the folks at the Blue Tang!

A sailboat, a crew, and an afternoon of the best snorkeling in my life. I have snorkeled throughout the Caribbean, including places like Buck island, but when Edwin and George of the Sirena Azul took us out to Mexican rocks in the Hol Chan Preserve I had the most amazing snorkeling experience of my life. Bucket list fish like queen angels, a hawksbill turtle, too many rainbow parrotfish to count, brittle stars living inside pipe organ corals, fields of living queen conch… just unbelievable. Edwin guided us through two plus hours of this zone of the reserve, getting pictures on our camera of things we were too slow to catch up to…the man is not only funny and kind but I suspect he has gills… an utterly amazing experience. I want to get my scuba certification and go back.

This was our second year taking the half day snorkeling tour to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Once again it was wonderful and we had a great time. We saw eagle rays and sharks as well as the beautiful coral reef just inches away. This is a beautiful boat, nothing like the sails flapping in the wind. Our crew, Edwin, Marco, and George took great care of us. We also did the sunset cruise which was amazing.

This half day Hol Chan and Shark Alley is a must do tour on the sail boat. Emilse at Bluetanginn was very helpful and answered many questions and emails I sent her in booking this tour. Being on the boat with the sail up out on the reef was great and the guys on the boat were awesome. These guys are sailors and fisherman and love what they do. Snorkeling was amazing! We saw many different fish and sea life. Shark alley was brilliant too!

This tour was fantastic! We are sailors and love the romance of a monohull sailboat! If you’re looking for speed, look elsewhere.

Our snorkel guide (Buddha) was not only fun and engaging he was knowledgeable. Our captain (George) is a wise soul with interesting stories to tell.

The snorkeling was ok. But most of the journey is the getting there! We had perfect weather and a wonderful sail, just us, the wind and the water!

Would definitely take this trip again!
