Our family enjoyed our time with Liz and the animals. We learned about these sweet animals in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed feeding the alpacas and learning about their quirks and personalities. I'm so glad we did it!

This is a fun and informative place to visit with the kids and learn about Alpacas. Actually it’s a great place to spend some time if you are retired as we are. The tour was conducted by the owner of the estate and she is a wealth of knowledge on the animal and the industry (if that is the correct term). We learned that not only are Alpacas ¬¬¬¬¬raised for their hair but also bred for show competition too.
The best part of the tour is that you can get up close to the animals and feed them. Right in their fenced in corrals. The alpacas, while smaller than llamas, are somewhat energetic if they know you have food. If you have ever been to a petting zoo where there are goats and donkeys, you know that there is a pecking order and the animals will push and shove to get to the food.
Alpacas only have bottom teeth so you shouldn’t be afraid to feed them. But, while they will not bite your hand while feeding, they may be a little rough bumping into you as they try to push other alpacas out of the way, hence, possibly intimidating younger children. I suggest you queue in little tikes about this before they enter the corral. We had a great time and the owner is a very pleasant person. There is a small shop where Alpaca apparel and yarns can be purchased. We purchased some yarn to give to an older relative for Christmas.
It’s a scenic drive to get there but somewhat out of the way. So if not familiar with the area, let your GPS guide you there. It’s well worth the trip and I highly recommend it. Nearby is Barnsley Gardens which you should visit too.

Liz, the upbeat and knowledgable owner/tour guide will introduce you to her alpacas and goats, regale you with great stories and shine her enthusiasm throughout a 2 hour education into the animals and their fiber. Items for sale made from her animals are made in the USA and affordable. Great family fun. Bring a camera!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Liz and all of her farm animals. We got to hand-feed alpacas in the pasture and I even got to hold one of the cute babies while it snuggled up to me! The goats were all friendly too; we got to visit with the adorable little babies and their moms. Liz has so much to share and is passionate about her way of life. She gave us a thorough history of her Alpacas, how the wool is used and marketed and much more. The tour is limited to a small group of adults and children so everyone gets time with the alpacas. Liz also has a gift shop with products made from alpaca wool. I highly recommend this farm for a personal experience with the animals (we purchased our tickets on Groupon).

Just got back from the tour and it was amazing. The owner Liz was extremely friendly and wonderful. My 6 and 3 year old had a great time. Definitely recommend to everyone who lives around the area.

Very informative. Great family bonding time. Would do it again if we had the time. Liz has a great passion for these animals and it really rubs off on the folks who come visit.

Some ideas never made my bucket list because they are too unreal to even think of... like finding some quintessential cuteness of jumping baby goats or taking a selfie with alpacas - and all just an hour drive from Atlanta! We were a bit worried with going to the farm on a chilly and cloudy day but it ended up being one of our most memorable weekends in GA. The tour began with Liz (the owner) sharing her story and talking about life on a farm and her passion and humor immediately made us feel very warm and welcomed :). The best part was, of course, feeding, hugging and taking pictures with alpacas - probably the most polite, mannerly and cute animals we've ever seen.
Southern Estate Alpacas is definitely a place you leave happier than when you entered ! We look forward to visiting you again

I visited "Southern Estate Alpacas" on a cold day with a group of friends, and I can honestly say it was such a warm and positive experience that the cold didn't bother us one bit! The alpacas are absolutely magical - fluffy, soft, and adorable!!! Besides alpacas, there are also very cute baby goats! Liz (the owner) gave us a very entertaining and educational tour, answered all our questions, and even gave us a great local restaurant recommendation. At the end of our tour we left the farm with big smiles on our faces:D

Everything you ever wanted to know about alpacas, and then some. What a great way to spend an afternoon with Liz and her alpacas! I was extremely lucky to be on hand during shearing time, and the care and kindness given to these beautiful creatures was awesome. I will definitely be bringing any out-of-town guests for a rare opportunity to be up close and personal with these animals, and I'll be marking my calendar for the next shearing!

My girlfriend & I arrived not knowing exactly what to expect, but Liz (our host & farm owner) gave us an incredible and educational experience! She is obviously very passionate about what she does and spends quality time with everyone. We also got to feed the alpacas! We got to see their goats as well! Highly recommended trip! Great for kids as well!
