Everyone has said it: Early morning is best for birds; but.... I have to say that the heat brings out all sorts of sightings also. . I am a photographer and the "rule" is early morning, , or dusk because the lighting is the best. . . but if the bird isn't there,, it does not matter. . I have just as much luck during the day as early or late. Make this trip an event so maybe put a picnic in the mix for eating at noon, or having a dinner picnic. My best advice is take your time.... those other cars will wiz by you .. just let them, , , you have to "look" into the weeds and bushes for all of the best surprises. . . . Just take your camera or binoculars and have a great time. Enjoy.
