Enjoyable Florida water and fauna.a lovely switch!
It’s all that and more! As my visit was February 9 with an expected high of 77, I didn’t know how crowded it would be! We watched a video warning us of very crowded waits to get in… they only take the first 250 cars. I panicked a bit and rushed to get there by 9:30 am and… we were the fifth car! We rented tubes for $9 each… ( big black adult kjnd,,, fortunately found two in the huge pile with smaller holes for 7 year olds. But at $9 each? I would have been better buying two cheap-o ones somewhere and bringing them. ( but as I’m from out of state, where would I have found them in the Orlando area? ) They were so bulky, one fit in the rental car truck and the second literally was in the front seat with me, obstructing my view somewhat… but then, we only drive another mile or two (and slowly) and once at the park, they were terrific! We first took at bit of a walking tour…to the spring head where the water felt downright toasty! Not the 68 degrees stared for some reason. We had a marvelous walk across the stream meandering through the lovely palms and high trees, chased a few wild turkeys, and set our dear down next to the sweet beach area downstream a bit. As it was not at all crowded, we spread our boughten food ( a Laura Ingalls Wilder word) all over a private picnic table. The grounds are immaculate with just a few parking places in each section by picnic tables… not one giant lot. Very cozy. The playground was lovely too. The birds sang, the playing kids enjoyed the sand and water, and the cost was just $5 to get in ( plus the tubes for $18.) Highly recommend!

One of the best water springs in Florida
Great place to spend a day with the family, very pretty and affordable. Avoid high season or go really early to be able to go in. Take your own food or snacks you may take your tube or rent one at the entrance. There are shallow areas or deep areas to choose from.

Beautiful! Arrive as early as you can or you won’t get in!
Stunning place! Natural lazy rivers with crystal clear water. Bring your own tube and pump to blow it, or rent one outside the park. There is a Designated swim area shallow enough for little kids. Playground on site. Picnic tables and charcoal grills available on a first comes first served basis. Arrive before 6am and get in line! We arrived at 6am and were #68 in line. We walked all the way to the gate and the first 5 cars spent the night there, they said. The lady in front of our car said the last time she came she was there at 6am and didn’t make it into the park. There is a limited capacity. You are warned! Come as early as you can to guarantee you can come in. Enjoy the cold water

A must visit Gem for a non Disney park day. The kids will love it!
A Wonderful hidden gem just an hour away from Disney. My teen daughters and I visited on a Tuesday, during spring break/ March. I saw all the reviews that said "go early." I'm thinking in the summer and weekends this is a must. We arrived in the lineup at 7:30am (park opens at 8am) and had no problem getting in (and there were several cars in line to get in behind us). We brought our own pool floats and stopped at Walmart for goggles. We had an amazing time! Very excited to use the goggles to see clearly to the bottom. The 1/2 mile float was our favorite part. Just beware there are sharp rocks that will eat up your legs on the float path if you are not in a tube (with legs up). Really clean park, great picnic sports, nice food stand, clean bathrooms. Only $5 for the whole car to enter. Very happy with this find!

You need to change the whole thinking of entering. You should sale tickets on line and then we would know if we are wasting our time traveling 1 1/2 or more hours. To let people drive and wait in line to be turned away is not good business. Gentlemen that turned us away said you need to get there at the crack of dawn apparently buy your ticket and then wait for 2 hours to get back in line to get in, seriously. He said this was for the protection of the animals limiting how many people enter. I get that but if they are buying tickets and then coming back adding more people to their car what difference are you making. You should sell tickets per person on line and then we would know for sure we are getting in and you would actually know how many people you are letting in. Wow you need to figure this out.

The natural lazy rivers were awesome! This was really the perfect day. We did a lot of research before we went but were still unsure what to expect once we got there. We went around 830am on a Friday in June and had no issues getting in but it did get crowded quickly. Not so much that we did not enjoy ourselves.

We had a mutli generational family and everyone loved it. You must have a tube!!!! We were short two tubes so my husband and I decided to walk down the rocky lazy river, Rock Springs I believe. Big mistake! We are both in good health and physical condition and had water shoes but the rocks are painful. As the water is pushing you forward you cannot see where you will step next.

We had a few $5 tubes from Walmart that worked perfect but you can rent them at a place right before you go into the park. Once you go in the park there is no re-entry so get your tubes first.

We saw a deer, turtle and some birds but no alligators which I was worried about beforehand. There are life guards and officers so we felt safe. There were a few loud and obnoxious guests cussing in the parking lot in front of my kids but that happens everywhere. Must do mini trip from Orlando. Loved it!!!!

So...this is a hidden gem for sure. $5 per car to get in which is impressive. We went to Walmart before and grabbed some $3 pool noodles... they were okay for the lazy river. The water isn’t super deep so we got some rocks up our butts... but we survived. There were so many teens there and also okay, but it was a very loud vibe so we went 20 mins away to Wekiwa state park. $6 to get in and has a huge deep swimming hole and you’re able to kayak as well. We preferred Wekiwa.

The park is open but the waterfront, the spring and the river float, usually one our favorite activities with the grandchildren on a warm day, are all “closed due to construction until further notice”. The ranger on duty at the gate was unable to give us even an approximate date other than some time later this year. So call ahead!
We ended up going to Wekiva Springs State Park nearby, but it is also disappointing compared to the good times we have had at the Rock Springs.

We visited today on a weekday (Tues). We were in line by about 8:15am and cars were lined up out of the park and down the road. I don't think we would have gotten in if we arrived much later. I wouldn't want to try it in on a weekend during the summer. We brought our own tubes, but the rental spot is on the way so you will pass right by it if you need to rent something. They also have food. We took our own tubes. I definitely recommend the sturdier plastic tubes because there are many large rocks, especially now because the water level is low. It was pretty busy by 9 am. It's a pretty narrow float, so it can get rather crowded. It only takes about 20 minutes to float the whole length and walk back. The water and surroundings are gorgeous. Everything is well laid out with walkways and several life guards. You can float down as much as you want it just swim around. Many people brought chairs and grills, which we'll do next time. For $5 for our family of four, this was refreshing family fun.

It had been a few years since my last visit to a Florida spring and I was dying to go this year, but after the summer rush and before cooler weather. I ran across this venue (Kelly Park) in online research and it had rave reviews. It wasn't too far from home, so I had to check it out.

We visited last week (mid-September) on a Thursday, hoping for less crowds (as school was back in session). We rented tubes from the bar & grille on the way in (put them on the roof for the short drive to the park) and arrived shortly after the park opened, around 8:15 a.m. It was beautifully serene with maybe only two other cars in the lot at that time. The air temperature was unusually cooler than normal that morning, so we choose to walk over to the water and around the beautiful park to get acquainted with the layout during the next hour.

I found the path that led to the head of the spring (behind the pavilions), a short walk down a beautiful path in the canopied forest. We made our way into the cool spring water and onto our inner tubes and had a wonderfully peaceful float down the spring to the end, about 20-25 minutes. As we passed the swimming area, it was filling up with people and kids, but our ride down the spring wasn't crowded at all (at that time).

Once we reached the end, we walked back around the other side of the spring, following the path back to the mid-section, by the pavilions. By then the park was getting busier, with people setting up picnics and some starting to barbecue.

What a treat to visit this beautiful park! I've added it to my favorites list, and next time will plan to stay for a picnic after our tubing run and make a day of it, but probably not during the summertime due to the crowds. I also want to visit Wekiwa Springs State Park, which is within the vicinity.

It's not a long run from Spring Cave which is off limits but that's okay. You mender from between rocks under a wooden bridge then down stream all the way. It is not deep but oh the water is so clear. If your lucky you may see a fish or two and even turtles. I go here every year for past 5 years and never luckily seen an alligator in the Kelly Park area. When you come almost to the end of the run you go under another bridge and out into the main pool. Various places to get out of water or just stay on your float and enjoy the cool water and Sunshine. A short 10 minute walk back and you can do it all over again.

Bring plenty of Sun Tanning lotion. A towel to dry off and a lawn chair to sit and relax on the grassy area. Pack a lunch (NO ALCHOHOL) or they have a concession stand with Burgers and Hot Dogs and snacks. All in all a great place to spend the day, Have never camped here but they do have a Camping area. Till next time, which may be soon. They are open now so see you there.

Kelly Park is a beautiful place to explore for a day, and located inside of the park is the real gem: Rock Springs. This is such a great experience, the crystal clear water is 68 degrees which can seem really cold but its refreshing. Most of the spring is 1 - 4 feet deep so it's not as cold feeling because the sun does take the edge off. If you'd like to see more, the link to my blog is in my profile. Love the lazy river, the current pushes you along in your float or you can walk through. Great for younger families since it's no dogs, no alcohol and no large float policy keeps the vibe less partyish.

There is a tube rental right before entering the park. Tube rental is $7 each and they add $1.00 fee when you use your credit card and they keep your license till you return the tube. We got in the line at 7:30am and the line was already to the tube rental place. Make sure you get there early. Enjoy.
