This was a nice set-up. However, when we visited the manatees were well away and underwater. We could see them generally as large dark shapes out further in the water. If people can manage the trip, I'd recommend the Wildlife State Park in Homosassa Springs...More

If you have an hour or so, this is a wonderful free resource. There are LOTS of manatees hanging out in the canal next to the power plant. Below the pier was a school of tarpon enjoying the sun and a small shark cruising the...More

Unfortunately, the day we stopped by, the weather was not cooperative and only we only saw one manatee. Many visitors who had previously been to the center had told us there were as many as 50 at a time. A little crowded due to school...More

This is a great place to view manatees in Jan and Feb. When the gulf waters are cooler the manatees migrate into the warm waters beside the power plant. The power plant has developed a wonderful viewing area that makes seeing the manatees a real...More

So the manatees by nature aren't super exciting -- it was still fun to wait for them to move about a bit. We saw lots of fish, sharks and birds that were more active.

We returned again this year to see the manatees. Unlike last year, there were very few manatees to be seen. Still it was a nice visit.

This is a must stop for the nature lover. You get a chance to see manatee close up by the power station on a nice board walk. It is easy to get around on for all ages. The power company have done a very nice...More

Lovely place to visit when it's cooler because the Manatee are all around. Harder to find when it is warm outside. Great place to take your family for a walk, bring or buy lunch and enjoy the outdoors. Free!!!

Happened to pick up a brochure when we stopped at the Florida Welcome Center. So glad I did too! What a nice stop, educational for kids as well as adults, wonderful viewing areas, nice trails to the observation tower (great view of the bay). And...More

We are not supposed to feed the manatees at the viewing center anything! There are signs posted reminding visitors not to feed the animals there.
