We stayed towards the middle of the island, but made several trips to Bean Point for sunset. I wouldn't necessary recommend this for day beach trips if you're not staying nearby, since the access to the beach is a significantly longer walk than at other locations on AMI. There are also no shower/restroom facilities. However, I highly recommend visiting for sunset!
The parking is difficult, but not impossible. If arriving for sunset, plan to come about 30-45 minutes before sunset. You can usually find people coming off the beach and snag a roadside spot about 1-2 blocks from the beach access. Just make sure you follow the parking signs and keep all tires off the pavement, or you'll get a ticket.
One thing to point out: we found that the sand by the dunes (in between the beach access and the beach itself) is almost magical. Incredible clean, white powder - like walking on powdered sugar. And it crunches like fresh snow!
I definitely recommend coming to Bean Point at least once during your trip for sunset.

Bean Point is beautiful, with a large beach area. It is a great place to watch the sunset. However, it is a hike to get here if you don't have a car or golf cart - definitely not convenient. There is no parking but there is a loading/unloading area at one of the beach access points. The trolley does not come up here but you can walk up (about 20 min) from the Anna Maria City Pier.

There are awesome views of the sunset here on the northern tip of Anna Maria Island Florida. Its where Tampa Bay meets the Gulf of Mexico. No parking unless you wanna walk a long way. We had a family member drop off and pick up at beach access point. Enjoy!!

The old Island feel is gone. There are too many tourists and new locals who have invaded Manatee County over the past decade. It can take you two hours to get out to the beach on weekends and other days. There is lots of red tide during spring and summer months that makes staying on the beach unbearable and kills the fishing. It was paradise decades ago but not anymore. Progress has ruined this one time beautiful Island. Buyer beware.

This beach was amazing, even in December. It was below 70, but these 11 Seattleites were in the water and playing in the perfect size waves and sugar sand for hours, even with the passing clouds. I walked a long stretch and found some shells, the birds were really fun to watch, pelicans diving into the water. There is no parking lot and the closest streets have no parking signs, but we did park pretty close to one of the paths and it's probably a 100 yard walk from parked to beach.

A romantic place for Sunsets and sunrises, the tip of Anna Maria Island is pristine and breathtaking. We like to ride our bikes down to the point from our home on Anna Maria Island. The area is primarily residential and parking is next to impossible. This adds to the charm. Bean Point is in Conservation so be prepared to be minimalist and leave no trash behind. The people walking the point are nature lovers which makes it special!

This was definitely worth visiting! We parked in a free public parking lot close to the sandbar restaurant, then we walked along the beach to Bean point. It was absolutely beautiful. Clear water, soft sand, and not very busy in the morning.

We always love to go to Bean point, but we appreciate it even more during this unique experience of social distancing! The beach is huge and essentially private as there are no hotels at the point. You can see sunset on the Gulf of Mexico and sunrise on Tampa bay. The dune grasses abd beach flowers are gorgeous! Don’t miss this amazing protected preserve at the northern end of Anna Maria Island!

Bean Point is a beautiful, natural beach. It is a great place to spend an afternoon but parking is limited especially during the busy season. It's on the tip of the island and has a great view of Tampa Bay and the Skyway Bridge. Bean Point is a must visit spot on Anna Maria Island!

Trip Advisor directions to this place took us to a residential neighborhood where “No Parking” signs outnumbered the number of the town’s residents. Yea, it may be beautiful, but only if you know someone. It should not be advertised on Trip Advisor.

We are staying in Northern Holmes Beach area. Looking to rent a golf cart for the week. Do you just park the cart on the street at Bean Point just like a car or is there other places you can also park those? Thanks!

When you say to park at the pier, you mean over on the east side of the island? Or is there a pier there?

There is a public park north of the Pier on the east side of the island. It has picnic tables, covered areas and tons of parking.
Follow the beach to your left (north) to Bean Point.
Lock your car...

We stayed in Blue Heron Cottage, 1 bedroom cottage, ideal for couple, with sofa bed in the lounge, 5 minutes walk to Bean Point or Rod & Reel Restaurant. It was clean & comfy & away from the busier Holmes Beech area. We would definitely stay there again.

Holmes Beach would be nice for little ones. We live right here and take 68th street to the beach from Pam Drive. (Near the big church, where Marina Drive goes one way and Palm Dr. the other) 68th is across from the church. It's a little gem, I have not yet seen noseeums or sand flies.. the waters are beautiful and it is never crowded. Hope this helps! ENJOY!♡

We stayed at Silver Gulf Resort. The location is perfect, across the street from the beach with lounge chairs, umbrella's, towels and an attendant available at no extra cost. However the rooms are like a motel room, bed, couch ,table kitchen... so for 4 people you would need 2 rooms for privacy. It was clean and the staff were helpful and pleasant! It s walking distance to many tiki bars, restaurants and shopping in Anna Maria Beach. It has a small pool. Bean Point beach is a drive away.
