You get to Maroon Lake on a bus that leaves daily from the Aspen Highlands Parking Lot. You buy tickets from the bike rental shop. It is about $3. It is an easy walk around the lake and up towards Maroon Pass. If you want to get into a serious hike, then you can go from their to Buckskin Pass... More

This attraction is an absolute must see/do. The lake is gorgeous, and all the scenery is awesome! Be sure to take your camera, and wear some good walking shoes. Seems like the earlier you go the less crowded it will be. Buy the bus ticket to the top and hike from there. you won't be disappointed! (be sure to be... More

We started down the trail to Crater Lake, but it is incredibly rocky. There were some nice views, though. We came back after about going half way and then took the Scenic Trail - MUCH BETTER CHOICE. Beautiful view of running rapids from the bridge at the half way point. Very short hike (20 minutes) but a great view.

Maroon Bells has been on "Colorado Bucket List" for a couple years. I finally made it there this year and definitely was not disappointed! The reflections were amazing and the mountains were absolutely gorgeous against the brilliant blue sky. The Scenic Trail is an easy walk near the lake, although it does get narrower and rockier as it progresses. Definitely... More

This is a wonderful trail full of breathtaking views. It walks around part of the lake and up to the bells. There is a gorgeous sitting area that faces the lake with a panoramic view of the park which I love.

Even though I consider bottom lake more beautiful than upper lake - the one you are hiking to - hike itself is great and fun.

This place is a great hiking area and really a must do for anyone visiting the area. You have to take a bus from Aspen highlands or the rangers will not let you in unless you show up before 8am. Take a lunch and have a picnic.

Daughter took me hiking here and it was beautiful. Definitely recommend bringing walking sticks since I have a messed up ankle...rocky areas on the trails. Didn't make it up to the other lake but it was beautiful for as far as we went! Husband had gotten a senior pass at Yellowstone National Park ($10 for lifetime pass) and was able... More

We were told it was a mile walk from the parking lot, but it isn't that long. It was probably only a 5 minute walk. The information lady in Aspen said this lake is the most photographed lake in the nation. It was beautiful. There are signs of moose in the area, but we never saw any, but we wanted... More
