We made the quick drive out to the Maroon Bells "station" and took the bus up to the bells. It was a great scenic route that ended at the top of a hill with an incredible view of the bells. We hiked a little around the lake and up towards the waterfalls. Gorgeous scenery but bring a jacket! Even in... More

Nice trek in beautiful setting to mountain lake. As always, make sure you bring fluids. It was our second day at high elevation and I suffered from altitude sickness.

Spent the morning hiking and enjoying the area. There are multiple hiking paths and trails. One is flat and easy and goes along the lake. There are also many other trails with various lengths and difficulties. We chose the hike up toward Crater Lake. We saw moose! Allow at least 2 hours if you want to do a stroll and... More

Wow this is fantastic! We didn't get up here until about 3 PM and our original intention was to just do the scenic hike but it was closed for revegetation so we thought well let's just try the Crater Lake hike. We had read some previous reviews so we knew that it was described as strenuous. It was great! The... More

We found out why Maroon Bells is known to be the most photographed spot in the U.S. Everywhere we looked was another photo opportunity. We even had the rare opportunity to see two moose near the lake. We had a local warn us and others that we were too close to the moose as they can be quite aggressive. She... More

So many of Colorado's beautiful places can be difficult to get to. This is one that is accesible to almost anyone. The views are breathtaking, almost unreal. Youa re standing there looking at it and it still feels like you are looking at a postcard. During peak touris season you will need to park at the visitor's center nearer to... More

Went to Maroon Bells from Aspen. A bus takes you there between 8 and 5 . It is a 20 min scenic route. The view is staggering. A trip that must be made.

We visited with 2 teenagers driving from Glenwood Springs to Breckenridge. I'm disabled and can't walk long distances but I was able to walk the path to the lake. It's a beautiful location with some benches and rocks to sit and enjoy the views of the mountains. There are many trails to hike. It was by far the most beautiful... More

I visited here as a kid and wanted to take my own family - it's still as beautiful but much busier! We went before the buses started driving folks up. You can drive yourself to the parking lot before ~June 10th. After that you must take a bus. We could see why - we were there on June 4th -... More
