Dated facilities, not really a spa

This is more of a health club than it is a spa. The entire place is undergoing a renovation from what appears to be its late 1980's incarnation. As for the spa, the massage therapist was fine, but there is very little staff and the facilities detract from the experience. During my massage, I could hear someone banging a file cabinet or boxes around and talking. It was loud enough that the massage therapist had to leave the room during the middle of my massage to find out what was happening. She was deeply apologetic, but there appeared to be no one for her to seek help from. So the noises continued throughout the massage. Weirdly, the place was practically empty so I have no idea why it was so loud except that the walls are incredibly thin. If you want a basic sports massage with no frills and are willing to pay $190/80 minutes (not the usual 90 minute increments) than this is the place for you. If you are seeking a luxurious or relaxing experience, then I would go elsewhere. The pricepoint for the massage is rather breathtaking considering the level of service. Oddly, my hotel compared this to the Remede Spa at the St. Regis, and it did not even come close. The St. Regis is a bit over the top, but it can rightfully call itself luxurious. The Aspen Club has no spa attendant, no one to help you find your way around, ratty robes (mine had a hole in it), dubious decor (think an 80's/Pinecone Lodge aesthetic), and tiles falling out of the ceiling in the ladies' locker room. Basically, I felt like I got a massage at 24 hour Fitness. Not a good value and not a fun experience.

So what is a spouse supposed to do when she no longer desires to feign interest in standing on two pieces of narrow wood, going madly out of control on frozen rain? Hit the spa, of course. The hotel staff recommended the spa services at the St. Regis but they were already completely booked. She then suggested the Aspen Club and Spa. Although I was incorrectly told it was a 15 minute walk, it was a nice nonetheless at 25 minutes. I was shown to the ladies locker room and told of all the amenities that I could use with my purchase of a spa service. I would have liked to have used the hot tub, the sauna or the fitness facilities but did not bring any clothing to do so. I changed into my robe and waited in a quiet are for my esthetician. She asked what I was hoping to obtain from this custom facial and since she couldn't make me look 20 years younger, I told her to try to make me FEEL 20 years younger! She created a facial for my skin type in the mountain climate. It included cleansing, exfoliation, a mask, toner and hydration. It also included a wonderful neck, face and shoulder massage. The cost was about a third of the St. Regis and a really good value! And I DID feel 20 years younger!

I always need a massage after the long flight to Aspen. Yes, the spa is a bit dated but clean and has a great feel. Other spas in town bit to fussy and lockers rooms very small. Aspen Club locker room gives you lots of spa to get ready without being on top of other guest/members. I have never had a bad massage. Just make sure you tell technician your needs. If getting a facial make sure to get a hydrating facial, air is dry in Aspen and its all about hydration. I also like the fact when getting a spa service you can use the gym.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Aspen Club on my recent ski vacation. My hotel (The Gant) recommended them for a massage. The experience was very calming and serene. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere in the waiting room along with the friendly staff. The best part of all was with the purchase of my massage, I was given priviledges to use the club's facilities for the entire day! I tried out a Body Pump class that was so fun, challenging and energetic. I really had an enjoyable experience!

Since a haircut is $90 here, I figured I would get a great haircut and style for a special event that day. Two hours later for a very simple haircut and style, it was pretty bad. Plus the strange thing was, the stylist just left and didn't say anything when it was over. I finally realized the haircut was over when she never came back. I then had to run home and try and salvage what I could in a short time before the event since the haircut took so long. I would have been much better off going to my usual place and pay half as much, or just did it myself! Very disappointing.

Both my wife and I paid for a "couples" massage, both massaged at the same time by two ladies. We both agreed that the massage was one of the worst we ever received, even when paying half as much (they charged $135 each and asked for a tip on top of that!). Also, both of these ladies gave off a really bad vibes, not very personable at all. We have love our experience with the town of Aspen in general, but visiting Aspen Club and Spa was not one of them.

Had a decent facial and massage at this spa - but would not go back. The facility seemed very dated and run down.

My son and I went fly fishing and my wife headed over to the Spa. Once we booked her appointment for a facial, they made a point of telling her that, as a customer, she was welcome to come over and use their pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. She took advantage of that said it was one of the most enjoyable spa experiences she's ever had.

We came back tired, sweaty and smelling like fish and sunscreen and she came back looking and feeling like a million bucks. Very highly recommended.

I got a fabulous massage from Jennifer. Beforehand, my friend and I took a Yoga class with Courtney. I take yoga once a week and my friend was a beginner. There was only one other person in the class who was very accomplished. Once the class started it was clear that it was challenging and the instructor kept saying this was a Level 2 class. Clearly, she didn't want us there. I felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed when I asked her to demonstrate some of the poses. "We don't do that in this class," she said. She could have been more gracious. Instead, we left. Too bad. Used the equipment on the floor which as really good. Another friend liked the Zumba class and felt welcomed even though she was a beginner

The whole place seemed smelly and stale. Not worthy of my money or time.
