great place to picnic

A beautiful sculpture park and gardens in downtown Aspen with some picnic tables and lots of rocks to choose from to sit and relax and have a picnic.

Wasn't sure what to expect but this place is beautiful, peaceful, quiet and free to visit. It's an outside garden with streams and flowers. Definitely stop by this place if you're in Aspen.

Wander through, meditate, sit for a while, bring the kids to splash in the shallow river. It seems an oasis in a busy world. I live in Aspen so I can visit any time and often take guests.

This little park is nestled near the Aspen theater next to the Roaring Fork River. Daisies are everywhere and frame the granite stones that hold the special lyrics of John Denver (and others) about peace and harmony of nature and their challenges from development. Great spot to walk over the waters among the rocks.

So peaceful and beautiful- Roaring Fork River is bubbling along the side of the park. Indigenous plants and flowers - the large rocks have John Denver's songs etched in them. Great for all ages and a very short walk to restaurants and shopping. Don't miss it!

The John Denver Sanctuary is a very pretty and relaxing setting that is near the Hurst Theatre. There are large boulders and plantings in a small pond setting that also flows into a stream. You can walk around the pond and it is an interesting place to relax and spend 15 minutes to an hour. This is a nice place... More

My mom is a huge John Denver fan so we actually went out of our away to come to Aspen. Gorgeous views of the mountains from here. It's neatly kept up, the rocks are cool and beautiful stream along it. Love!
