We wandered towards the park not really sure what to expect. It was a beautiful, calm area a short walk from the centre of Aspen's shopping area. The are walkways made of huge white stones leading to the river and several water features. Several stone have lyrics from John Denver's songs or poems. Very calming.

This is a lovely small park that provides beautiful flowers and scenery. You can hear the John Denver songs in your head as you walk along and read the lyrics carved into the rocks.

The John Denver Sanctuary is perhaps the best example of a man-made place that feels natural and as though it has always been there. Beautifully executed as a civic/privately financed partnership, this attraction is one of my absolute favorite places in Aspen. The plantings are gorgeous and ever-changing, amid flowing water, and rocks carved with some of John's songs as... More

This is such a lovely place . Take the trail along the river then wander through the wild flowers. Carved on huge rocks are the lyrics to John Denver's songs. You step over small creeks and see butterfly's everywhere.

This is a wonderful way to spend your morning, afternoon or sunset. Then you can take a walk around the park and follow the roaring forks river. It's really one of the nicest parks we've ever walked through.

Lovely gardens, creeks, walking paths. The City did a beautiful job creating this space. Even if you are not a John Denver fan it is certainly worth a visit. My husband is European and didn't know of John Denver but after the visit he was happy we went and loved the space! He's now playing John Denver radio on our... More
