Public paid parking just across the street from this local park. Soccer, skateboarding, etc. greets you as you walk into the park to the Sanctuary. It's simple and beautiful with John's songs etched on large boulders. Beautiful, peaceful walk! Easy too!

Beautiful, peaceful space, honoring the memory of John Denver. Tastefully done with green space along a stream and stones engraved with the lyrics to his music.

A quick walk from the center of town and located adjacent to the Theatre Aspen, the John Denver Sanctuary Garden is a wonderful spot to rest, reflect, hum a few bars, and remember this talented musician. The gardens and water features are beautiful with ample...More

Had the opportunity 2 wks ago to tour the sanctuary while visiting Aspen & were so glad that we did. It's beautiful and calming. Flowers galore along with a pond, the river running right past it and engraved boulders with the words to some of...More

Absolutely a special spot. Read the rocks , listen to the creek sounds, and take in the beauty. I went twice during our stay.

The layout of the sanctuary is artful - ponds, streams, plants all woven together to provide multiple places to sit and meditate. The sound of the water and the nooks for seating made you feel like you had your own alcove. The writings carved into...More

This is NOT a destination, even if you're a John Denver fan. It is, however, a pleasant city park. If you find yourself in Aspen with a little bit of free time, the nice trails here are definitely worth checking out.

Cute but expected more. Pretty and relaxing way to spend about the 20 minutes it takes to walk around.

.. we were drawn here by a geocache and as always it proved interesting and a nice reminder of John Denver and aspects of his life and songs. YMMV

I would suggest contacting Willie Hoevers, who is also making plans for the 20th anniversary of John Denver's death. Willie is also on Facebook. My wife Diane tells me she knows you from Facebook. We live up in Wisconsin.
