The road up to Kite lake is really pretty, with lots of wildflowers and waterfalls to see. Once at the lake, you can pick one of several 14’ers to hike. There is a $3 fee to park on the honor system. We

Bagged another 14er. I was only able to summit Democrat. Will be back another time to get Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross. Not bad for and old dude. Gettting to the false summit is tough with steep incline and lots of large rocks. For the most...More

If you are ready you can climb 4 14er's in a day. Start with Bross and go counterclockwise. People are very friendly. Take $3 cash for the parking fee and go early as space is limited in the lot but you can park on the...More

Simply a spectacular setting in Colorado’s Mosquito Range. Located 6.5 miles west up Buckskin Gulch. A favorite location of mine since the early 1970’s. It gets more crowded in the summer months as “Bagging a 14tnr” is the in thing to do for visitors and...More

Great scenery and mountain hiking, three 14er peaks you can summit. Alma is a great town to visit as well. Everyone is very friendly.

As others have mentioned it can be a bit rocky the last hundred yards or so, but well worth it. My old 1990 Toyota pickup made it just fine....and I even saw some dude in a Mini Cooper make it!!! Set up our camp the...More

The weather was beautiful in July, clear sky, warm but windy. The view great. The hike was a slog...it's a 14er but really an easy trail. Can also do 3-4 14'er summits if up to it, but makes for a long day!

Climbed all four again on 23 Oct 2016. Late in the year but weather was nice. I brought along some microspikes which is a good idea for June or October when there is some snow on the peaks. Another big tips....don't come down back of...More

Our friends brought us up Buckskin Road along a very bumpy ride to Kite Lake and Mt. Democrat. I was glad that I did not have dentures and grateful that my friend had 4 wheel drive. The weather was a cool 46 degrees and foggy....More
