A treasure!
Aug 2020
If you are in Allespark, don't miss stopping into Distant Harbors if you''re fortunate enough to be there when they are open (seasonal hours). . Even if you aren't a shopper, it is a one of a kind shop. Christine, the proprietor, has a creative sense of design and a knack for finding interesting, unique items ( from many locations/harbors) . She brings in local artists and craft people and has a story to tell about each one, if you're interested! You can sit on the front porch for awhile and take in local, townspeople activity. The bulding itself is a historic landmark! And did I mention the boutique in the back room? Again, Christine has a unique sense of style and you just might find something!

A Great Visit
Sep 2018 • Couples
We drove to Allenspark from Estes Park to see the natural spring and try the water. We saw the shop when we turned off the highway and decided to stop. We had a great visit. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The place was very nice inside. There was a nice selection of items: jewelry, clothing, old books, old postcards, etc. We purchased a couple jewelry items, an item of clothing, and a few old postcards. It was a great visit. We plan on going there again on our next trip to Estes Park.

Treasure chest

Did not feel like driving up to Estes Park from our nearby cabin, so drove into Allenspark. Going around the curve, noticed a few goodies outside---what is that???, stop, stop, are they open? Eclectic, something old, something new. Home and outdoor décor, fabric items, various themes, definitely not cookie cutter, books, jewelry, Small place, old place, rustic, but refreshing variety. Enjoyed the visit. If you pass it up going around the curve, you might as well drive as far as the spring water closet on your right, fill your water bottles, then turn around to come back to the shop.

Never dissapointed

I don't think I can recall exactly when it is I first walked into Distant Harbors. I'll say 25 years ago but that's a guess. What I do clearly remember is buying a beautiful rare Jack MooMaw book. I recall being greeted as I entered the store by the owner, Christine. Introducing herself and welcoming me to the community with a smile if genuine kindness.
This is a one of a kind store that will find you standing in one spot looking and looking. You will find yourself in a friendly chat and will leave with a smile. You will find the perfect gift for that person that is hard to shop for.
I still pop in a few times a year just to say hi and to accidentally find something unique and special that I did not know I needed.
Make plans to take a special trip to Distant Harbors you won't regret it!

This rustic gift shop offers a wide selection: gorgeous jewelry in many styles; books that include local & Colorado history and nature; a wide variety of greeting cards; some of the most impressive figurines. There are gifts for all ages - from 1 to 101. Wall hangings; lamps; great fun stuff. Most importantly --- the owner is so special !! She is so welcoming and friendly. It is just a pleasure to walk through the door !! She searches for gifts from all over the world - therefore - has a wide variety.
