I went to fish, hike and observe nature. Also evening boat rides. Stayed in camper and heard the coyotes howling-cool

Bring a boat, but only if there is water

This reservoir is part public (state wildlife area) and part private (the entire south shore). During hunting season it is quite busy and there is some camping activity there throughout the summer.
However there is only one pit toilet and no designated camp sites.
Visitors age 19 through 64 must possess an Annual Jumbo SWA/Prewitt SWA access permit, or a valid hunting or fishing license. but it is unclear which is actually required or where one gets the SWA permit. Regulations have changed several times in recent years.

A nice getaway

No fee, but you need a fishing/small game license or to have a special permit that is sold for Prewitt and Jumbo reservoirs. Can be crowded in summer with campers, noisy in the fall with hunters, and people are not good about picking up after their garbage; dogs need to be on leash but welcome; good place to walk, bird watch, horseback ride, especially in winter. Beautiful location and not hard to access.
