This would be a five star rating, since we enjoyed our time in the submarine and all of the fish we saw. However, there was no one coordinating the seating, and my husband, daughter and I took up two seats. There was a young man with his grandfather sitting next to us as well on two separate seats, and the older blonde woman working was incredibly rude -- she came to the back of the boat and literally screamed at all of us (making a scene in front of everyone down there) to share seats since other people were waiting to still be seated (which we had no knowledge of). All she had to do was ask us nicely, politely (and professionally) to share our seats, since other people were still boarding. We didn't pay $100+ to be treated that way, and I sincerely hope for the sake of future patrons, this type of unacceptable behavior and treatment is addressed. Also, they should have someone dedicated to seating people, if it's that chaotic.

This was a 1 hour Summit Vista Tour that takes you to the Summit of the Island with spectacular viewpoints. Our guide was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. We saw a Fox, Deer and a Beautiful Bison that was posing for us . Well worth the $$$

Great ride but not for the claustrophibic. Imagine the Jules Vern 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride at Disney. Now make the ship bigger and roomier and then actually go out into the ocean. The ship goes to an ocean preserve. While there the crew feed the fish and then 100s of them swim right up to your porthole. We saw 5 types of fish and some Bladder seaweed. Great tour guide.

I originally set a 2 tours and one was cancelled 2 days before and o was fully refunded. the second tour i called the morning of and was confirmed. about 20 minutes later received a call that the tour was cancelled and there was a tour for less money at the same time I could call her back and book it. By then I was a bit frustrated with the company so I did not call back. I was refunded the difference between the 2 tours but never the full amount. Later that evening when we got back to the hotel I saw they sent me an email in which they rebooked us 25 minutes before the tour was to begin. No phone call. I have called them and also sent an email and have not received a full refund.
I understand cancellations with tours because things happen but I don't understand if you call and tell me the tour is cancelled but then rebook me via email. Also have never received a response from my phone call or email. Poor Customer service.

Zipping with Nick and Karenna was a blast. Our group of mixed company enjoyed our hosts fun and humorous adventures through the course. Supportive and encouraging to those who are first-timers. Lots of historical tidbits about Catalina.

2hr ridge top tour. We were on island for our 40th anniversary. Took this tour With Cindy Lowe as our guide. She was awesome, very fun and full of good info about the island. This proved to be one of our favorite tours of the island!! Thanks Cindy for a great 2 hrs!!

My husband and I were on a cruise and one of our day trips was in Avalon on Catalina Island. We reviewed and searched for fun things to do. We decided to book a submarine tour with Catalina Adventure Tours and if we booked that tour they would give us a deal on a land tour. About a month prior to our cruise we booked, paid and got a confirmation number. When they day came for us to take our tours we approached the desk agent and said Hello we are here for our submarine tour. The agent laughed and said, "Well, no your not going today." I pulled our paperwork out and showed her the confirmation number and reciept for payment. She said we do not have a guide for that tour it has been cancelled. We were a little bummed but said okay we would like a refund on our credit card. She said, no the tickets are good indefinetly you can use them another time. We said no, we do not know when we will be back we want a refund. She finally said she could not do a refund I need to speak with a supervisor- who was not in. So, I took down the information and called. I actually ended up calling five times. Each time telling the story and being told the tickets are good forever. I have been now told I will see a credit on my credit card, still have not seen it. I highly discourage people from using this company for having to go through the misery we have in dealing with them when THEY cancelled the tour. It is ridiculous. We ended up renting a golf cart and doing a touring the island ourself. That was fun the island was beautiful.

The tour is exactly what has been described in the tour information paragraph above. But way too much money for a ride in the back of a truck to a surly old man taking your money at the Catalina Airport cafe.

After my first glass bottom boat tour 50 years ago my husband and I decided to try it again hoping things have improved. Clearly, they have not. The boats are newer and the guide very friendly, thus the poor rather than terrible rating, but it's still a waste of time and money. All you see are garibaldi which you can see from the pier, opal eys and an occasional bass along with lots of kelp and sand. The boat has charts of all kinds of fish making you think you will see one of them but you do not. I know it's not promised but we were out on a warm, sunny day with the best visibility and there was nothing to see....save your money!

I was worried when I read the negative review and still decided to go on the trip as I thought my grandson would enjoy it. It turned out to be a wonderful trip. I had taken the glass bottom boat trip years ago and it was not great. This is a huge improvement. There are large glass viewing areas with seating all around and lots of things to see clear down to the seabed. Highly recommend.

I would like to know what time of the day is the best to take semi submarine tour? When is the best time to see more fish?

I would go morning to midday. You see many fish, but of only a few species. The fish are fed (sometimes by you at extra cost), which keeps them coming.
