I’m very specific about my hair, sometimes I go a long time without getting it done because I’m scared to let anyone do it! Nancy did a great job, asked a lot of questions to make sure I got what I wanted and gave me a lot of helpful hair tips. Will definitely go back to her.

During the busy spring break my daughter was lucky and walked right into and got a mani/pedi on the spot without an appointment. This cute small little shop is located around the corner but in the same complex as the arcade down by the Bluewater. For a small shop they have a more high-tech pedi chair than my nail shop here on the mainland. The young lady did a great job with my daughters nails. My only recommendation is bring cash because this is a cash only nail shop.

We visited Catalina Island and had some time to look around. Most people drive golf carts which you can rent. Parking in the small down town is very limited and for very short periods of time. We booked a spa service but had to watch out for how long our golf cart was parked. The spa was not good on timing even though they confirmed a specific time. It just made the visit more stressful than it needed to be. Maybe they have a more relaxed idea of time on the island. A pretty place to visit.

As an annual visitor to Avalon I know that everything on the island is more expensive but I never expected to pay $55 for a mediocre gel manicure. I didn’t see prices posted & I didn’t ask before hand ( I thought how much more could it possibly be). The manicurist acknowledged that my nail tips were squared off & asked if that is how I wanted them, I told her that it was & then she proceeded to round my nail tips. After one nail is rounded off you have to match the others. Not happy. In San Diego I get a gel manicure for $25 & it includes exfoliation of the hands and forearms & a hand massage. Not so with the $55 manicure at Island Breeze, you get nothing special. In the future I will always make sure I get my nails done before I go to Catalina.
