Aurora worked with us to book a private kayak trip for our family get together after every other kayak tour was booked up. Then at the last minute, Catalina native, Patti, stepped in to lead our eco-tour when the other guide was double-booked. All eleven of us had a memorable time (including the three little guys).

My family and I had never gone kayaking before. I'm so glad I took a leap of faith to give it a try. My husband and our older son were adjustable and are fairly athletic; our 9-year-old boy, on the other hand, was fine with the idea...until his Lakers mask fell in the water...and, we weren't swift enough to get it back. This, together with the getting-wet and being-cold part, upset him very much. When we got to the Frog Rock, he was crying and wanted to go home already. Not in a kayak. Our tour guides - Don and Andy - were both very kind and patient. Andy showed my son the sea shells. The distraction worked quite well. The kids collected a plastic bag of sea shells and rocks that must've weighed almost 10 pounds. By the following day, our 9-year-old was writing his grandparents a postcard and saying that his "favorite thing about the trip was kayaking."

We loved the attention the employees gave us as got set up with the Not-So-Early-Earlybird Special. Although we have kayaked and snorkeled before, we appreciated the instructions on how to handle the kayaks and where to snorkel. Everyone was so helpful, and we loved packing a picnic with us to a secluded beach. They even loaned us a cooler to keep our food cool for the outing.

As there were no cruise ships in while we were there, we got a private kayak tour. We did the morning Leopards and Lions tour and had a great time enjoying the peace of the water and quiet shoreline. While we didn't see any Leopard Sharks (they are very very shy) we did get to see a SeaLion who entertained us by keeping an eye on us for a good portion of the journey. We also saw oodles of Garibaldis. We did get wet so dress appropriately, as getting in and out of the kayak isn't a dry event. The better you are at kayaking, the further down the coast you can travel. This is a great way to see Catalina.

This is why we are open for kayaking year 'round, Catalina's beauty and wonders don't stop at the end of summer... and our tour minimum is only two persons. I'm so happy you signed up for one of our many guided paddles and had that experience! (Do spread the word, this also makes our excellent kayak guides very pleased)

We really enjoyed our kayak tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the island and it's history (his entire family is from Catalina). It was fun to learn about the island from that perspective. You get to see a part of the coast/island that is only accessible by boat. Frog Rock is not much more than an average, rocky Catalina beach, but it was a great stopping place after paddling to get a snack, learn more about the island, and go swimming and back floating in the calm waters of the leeward side of the island. It was a Very calming and one of the best parts of the experience. On the way back we had a bit of adventure rescuing a sea gull that had gotten fishing hooks in his beak and the webbing of his foot.
