Avalon was a pretty little town nestling around a bay at the foot of hills. There were many restaurants and touristy shops. The Green Pier was much smaller than we’d imagined. The Casino building was very impressive, dominating one end of the bay. We wanted to walk there and see the famous ballroom but were disappointed to be told that we could only look inside if we booked a tour at the Green Pier.

The Green Pleasure Pier has been welcoming visitors to the shores of Catalina for a very long time, and the pier has retained the authentic charm for every visitor stepping foot on this historic pier.

The Green Pleasure Pier is one of the great points of history in California that remains unchanged and magical for young and old, locals and tourists.

There are many expensive and unaffordable places in this place. Totally out of reach of average person.

There is not much more iconic, than the pier in Avalon.
Just strolling the short length takes you back in time to a much simpler life.
There are people fishing, others leaving on submarines and boat rentals!

The very few piers I've been on that actually has a really nice clean with beautiful tiled bathrooms. There are a few shops and restaurants on the pier. The Jet Ski companies boat leaves from this location.

There really aren't any places in Avalon that aren't at least picturesque, but the pier has some fun little places to browse while taking in the sun and sea surrounding it.

We left for several activities from the green Pier. The kids swam next to the green pear. They've got a whip it up for the kids to play on on one side which is great fun and a dock on the other side that they can jump off. The bathrooms are clean and there's lots of places to eat.

This pier has been here since I was a kid, and that was a VERY long time ago. Back in the days when we used to come to Catalina Island via the big ship instead of these fast little boats they have nowadays. Back then it took a long time to reach Catalina and part of the fun was the leisurely cruise over there.
There's still lots to do on the Green Pleasure Pier, from the embarking site of the submarine tour (semi-sub) to the famous Glass-bottom boat tour, seems every water/sea tour begins and ends here. We even went on the flying fish tour here. There's a small dive shop where you can rent gear ranging from tanks and masks to simple snorkel gear. As you near the small beach area there's a huge public restroom very close to the Green Pleasure Pier. This also serves the sandy beach area on either side of the pier.
Tons of fun for the whole family!
