Well preserved theatre, a credit to the volunteers, long walk to get to it if you are on a walking stick. Impossible to get a cab as it was the off days of the week?.. it rained so we got quite wet.

It was fun to see a movie in this building. The seats are very close together and not much leg room but the building is wonderful.

We did not take a tour, but it would probably be a good idea to appreciate the architecture and history of the building. We went into the old, massive movie theater prior to the movie and enjoyed several pieces of music on the 1929 pipe...More

We had an awesome time touring the casino yesterday. Our guide Steven was super knowledgeable about the casino, the art and era and the history of the casino. It helped that it was like a private tour since it was only me and my wife...More

Saw some poor reviews that is was too loud and could not enjoy it. Here is the secret. Opt for the less expensive tickets and sit all the way in the back. The two stage speakers are the size of a car, so if you...More

Is the Catalina Island Casino a "working" casino or is it just a museum?

The Catalina Island Casino dates back to the 30s and is virtually an iconic symbol of the island. It is not acutally a gambling casino. It is currently divided into the Grand Ballroom and a movie theater and also houses the Catalina Museum. The Grand Ballroom was restored and refurbished a few years back and has been largely returned to it's original form. The building is now used for wedding receptions and events.
