We were so impressed by the friendliness and knowledge of the folks working in the Visitors' Center. Not only were there plenty of brochures about various CA destinations, but the staff was more than happy to share their expertise and love of their town and county.

I stopped here to find a good place to eat in town and something to do while I was passing through on another appointment. The person who helped me showed me a rack of information to look over. I picked up a few brochures and will be back again.

Pros: per the title, a surprisingly wide selection of tourist information for the region, which includes Lake Tahoe. Helpful staff. Free cupcakes the time we visited. Cons: only one bathroom. Need to wind through town to get there from the interstate. Entrance is non-obvious, the secondary entry for this building, with parking a fair hike behind the building.

The address I think I visited is actually 1103 High St., Auburn (that's the address listed in the email I received thanking me for signing their guest book, anyway). The parking lot is in back, and the door is hard to find- it's on the opposite side of the building tucked into an alcove. Got great advice, lots of information.... More
