The view of the outside of the Placer County Museum is worth the drive to Auburn in itself, beautiful. When you step inside, you can feel the rustic nature of what things must have been like in the late 1800's. Take your time and enjoy.

This is a beautiful building. The museum is wonderful. The section on Native American relics is especially close to my heart as my Aunt donated all of the artifacts!

Interesting little museum. Learned a few things about the area. A few hands on things for kids and a good little movie. Fun to go the old building. Took my parents and 9 year old daughter.

Interesting, low key, a great way to step out of the weather and have an interlude between more intensive activities. I learned things I never would have found just ‘surfing’ the internet.

My brother was in World War II and was actually MP stationed in Auburn to help protect the railways. The pictures of that era were very interesting to me.

There is no entrance fee so it's hard to beat. The volunteer staff were very good and extremely friendly. Gave me a nice overview and history of the area. It's small but nice.

The building is still in use, so the museum itself is only on the first floor. In fact, we almost didn't go in, because the building doesn't look old enough to be a museum at all and we thought we'd gotten lost somehow.

I LOVE small museums with tales of history. Located in the historic courthouse, you will enjoy the tales of the jail, newspaper clippings, old phones, gold discovery docs and more.

The museum is beautifully restored, and well appointed. Well worth a stop on your adventure. Auburn is a worthwhile destination for sure. So much California history here!

A very local funky museum with lots of fun exhibits including what happened to the hat? (and the suspects in its disappearance) this exhibit includes some great vintage women's hats. Plus lots of mining exhibits and exhibits of regional interest. Enjoyed the museum on a...More
