What a great little zoo. With exception to the front desk staff, the staff were friendly, explaining feeding procedures, animal habits, and allowing my children to pick places to put food for the Fossa in its enclosure. To clarify, my kids were on the outside of the enclosure, the staff was on the inside. The Red Pandas are THE definition... More

I enjoy visiting small town attractions such as the zoo in Atascadero. While it obviously can't compete with the major metropolitan zoos it still had quite a lot to offer in a very relaxed atmosphere. If you have an hour or two to spare when passing through Atascadero give the zoo a visit. I believe you'll enjoy it.

Lots of improvements have been made, and overall is a great atmosphere. Nice exhibits, summer camp programs look cool.

We a little disappointed by the overall selection of animals, which for the most part are small animals. However the grounds are nicely laid out, and well maintained, and the cages kept in good condition, and the animals look healthy and the habitats seem to be decent size for each animal based on their size. We took two of the... More

This zoo was more fun for us than the Santa Barbara Zoo and much more affordable. Lots of animals I didn't know existed. The Tiger was beautiful.

Always love coming here with my two young kids. The zoo is on the small side but large enough to hold their attention. It's reasonably priced and has a park right out side for the kids to go play at and have a picnic at when your done. There no food served but snacks in the gift shop if you... More

Let's keep in mind this is located in Atascadero... got that? OK, for a small zoo, this is a nice experience. The cages are clean and the animals appear healthy and happy. They have some fun events at this zoo, and we checked out the "Chicks" exhibit (an incubator-like structure with baby chicks during Easter) which was fun. Since my... More

Perfect place to take the kiddos for a day. The zoo is just the perfect size for young and old, plenty of exhibits to keep a short attention spans busy, plenty of shade and park benches to rest at. Plenty to see in a few hours! Zoos are always best in the morning when the animals are fresh and the... More

The only reason I couldn't rate The Charles Paddock Zoo 5 out of 5 is because the animals sleep too much-lol. This zoo is such a novelty in this small town, and the best zoo between SF and LA...ok, only zoo, but it's worth the time to stop and enjoy. Great setting, fun animals, nice gift shop, check it out!

Visiting in town this weekend and took the little one to the zoo and the connecting park. This Zoo is not the National Zoo or the Los Angeles Zoo in size or stature. It's a little 5 acre gem that is easy to get in and out of and charges a reasonable $7.00 dollar entrance fee. I must say they... More
