Fun Trip to Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve
Jul 2020
We returned to Black Diamond Mines Regional Park. We enjoyed walking and seeing this large park. There is a lot of early mining history and mines to explore as well. We find this park to be awesome.

Hiking with history
Jul 2020 • Solo
This is a very spacious place to hike. Lots of trails and lots of history: mines and scenery. Make sure to bring shades and stay hydrated because there are parts that are just pretty much you and the Sun.

Great Nature Walk!
Aug 2019 • Friends
At first I hesitated but then I decided to have an open mind, think positive and be adventurous. I joined my adult children and their friends on a nature walk and it was an Amazing experience. I truly recommend every one to experience this because it is a beautiful sight to see.

A jewel nestled in the hills.

I haven't been in a few years, but I grew up in the area and this place reeks of history. The mine tours were closed for years after an earthquake, but the tours are now open again. I strongly recommend you call and make reservations and take the tour. There is a visitors section where you can see how the miners and their families lived, and docents or park employees available to answer your questions. My favorite part is the Rose Hill Protestant Cemetery, the Catholics were buried down in Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch. The inscriptions on the tombstones are heartbreaking and I can't help crying as I read them, various epidemics did serious damage to the population, not to mention the dangers of mining. There are many hiking trails and the views change with the seasons. It is a quiet, reflective place to visit, and when you are done there are numerous places to stop and eat both in Pittsburg and Antioch.

Tons of hiking trails but the $5 admission just to hike is spendy

A huge park with miles of trails. Some old homesteads and picnic areas. They charge $5 per vehicle for admission so kind of expensive if you just want to hike. Beautiful scenery

A New Years Eve Hike
Dec 2018 • Family
Black Diamond is easy to get to and I go here often. There are great trails and at the top of one of the trails I was able to see Concord, Carquinez Strait, Pittsburg, Discovery Bay and the snow-capped Sierras. Beautiful day for a hike.

Breathtaking

I've grown up next to this location and I believe that it's an amazing place to take family and friends for any and all occasions. Especially after rain it's one of the most beautiful locations I've ever been to. Most of the different hikes you can take vary as far as length and beauty but if you want a challenge, or just a nature walk this is one of the best places to do so in the Pittsburg/Antioch area

A step back in time!
Jul 2018
This historical landmark brings history in real time back into ones mind. The Hill Top Cemetery with all the baby markers dating all within 4 months of each other is fascinating. Well worth visiting.
