I hadn't been to the park in 17 years and wanted to take my kids on the ride. The old girl has some age on her as the newer Star Wars rides have better entry lines to keep you occupied, but once you get inside the building, you get to listen to the trash talking droid who did not repeat anything while we were in line. You also get to hear C3PO and R2D2. The motion video ride itself has been refreshed and updated over time, so it still keeps up. The price of the ride is the possible need to get hit with vertigo/ motion sickness.

This is one of the old standbys in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, and Star Wars fans will love it. It's identical to the attraction at Disney World in Florida, just without all the cool Endor-themed outdoor queue area.
This is a 3D motion simulator ride, so beware if you have motion sickness! I have been on this ride at least 100 times and I'd estimate that it makes me woozy about 5% of the time. I can't figure out why, but it has something to do with the location of the seats and the adventure story that's on the screen.
The ride is a tourist spaceship that's piloted by C-3PO, and the park guests are the passengers. The seats are snug and you have to wear a seatbelt because you get bounced around a lot. Make sure you stow your hats, bags, etc. in the compartment under your seat. You'll be given a pair of "flight goggles" (aka 3D glasses) to wear during the journey.
What I love about this attraction is that no matter how many times I ride it, it's always a new experience. There are tons of variations on the ride, and they are random. I find the more interesting adventures tend to pop up at night, but I'm not sure if that's just the luck of the draw. My favorite is probably the Pod Race, the Imperial battle on Crait, the ocean moon of Kef Bir, or the visit to Hoth! It's always a joy when Yoda, Lando, Poe, or Princess Leia make a cameo too.
The ride features Star Wars lore for fans both old and new, and it's a good mix of stuff from the more recent movies and also the classics.
This ride has a height limit and please heed the warning signs: if you tend to get nauseous and are sensitive to motion, be careful when riding! You also exit through the gift shop, which features so much cool merchandise from the Star Wars universe.

Star tours – book this trip
This is one of my sons favorite rides. It’s a great ride because it put you right in the middle of a Star Wars movie. What’s extra fun about this ride is that there are a combination of segments that make each experience slightly different from before. It’s also fun because they capture a video shot of a person in line and that person is the fugitive that you’re trying to save from the storm troopers. You never know if you’re going to catch Kylo Ren or George Dar or Yoda or Darth Vader or who.
The ride line can be long but there are fast passes. If you go in the late evening you can often walk right on. If you were in a wheelchair, You need to transfer into one of their wheelchairs. No scooters or power chairs allowed. Then you go up through a funky back way. It can be a little confusing because you’re wandering around trying to figure out where to go for the ride. And then eventually a cast member sees you and helps you on your way.
This is a fun one, but definitely not one for after a meal or if you have motion sickness. If you do go on it and you have motion sickness, do what I do. I spend 99% of the ride with my eyes closed just giggling and bouncing along. I only picked for the good parts. LOL

Since the creation of Galaxy's Edge I wouldn't regard this as must-do. Its a 3D simulator ride but you get simulated flight on Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run, so if you do those I think you need to be a total Star Wars fan to prioritise doing this too.
But its a fun enough ride. On Genie+, though in midweek late August queues rarely seemed above 10-20 minutes and were sometimes less.

My wife, son and grandson loved this ride. The video portion is great. So what's the problem? When you enter you take a seat in a wide multi-row "sled" ship. As you fly, the ship jolts up/down and sideways with great frequency. My DIL sat out the ride based on past experiences. I wish I had. At the end of the ride I felt a bit dizzy and my back hurt from the jolts ( I am find back=wise on almost all rides) .

Since the last time we rode Star Tours 3 years ago, it's been changed again. This time Rise of Skywalker has been released and our ride included a couple of the planets from the movie. I don't know if you can go to other planets (we rode it twice and only the beginning was different on our 2 rides), but it was still cool to "visit" the planets in the movie.
Fast passes are recommended as it gets busy by early afternoon.

We loved the original ride. This new version is way less fun. Ride is more jerky and the volume is turned way up. And as for the storyline it’s trying to cram too many different destinations into a 3 minute ride. Just a mess and way inferior to the original ride. Won’t ever waste time here again.

Star Tours has updated their storyline to include the latest episode of the Star Wars Saga. When we were there in January 2020, the 9th episode (The Rise of Skywalker) was in the theaters and that storyline has been added into the scenes of the 3D motion simulator ride.
Still fun. Still has the waiting lines weaving around the queue. Still has C3PO and R2D2 taking you on the adventure. Still has that jump to hyperspace after a faceoff with Kylo Ren...
Kef Bir, the ocean moon with its giant waves and wreckage of the first Death Star, is one destination of the adventure.
Your Star Tour ride also becomes part of the rescue armada in the final battle over Exegol... a fitting end to the adventure.

This ride is still amazing. I loved this ride when I was a kid and was excited to take my family on this ride specifically. We did this ride second, after the Buzz Lightyear ride, as they are right across from each other. It's since changed since I was a kid, but it's still a great ride and more or less similar to the older version from when I was a kid. My kids like myself, being Star Wars nerds, loved seeing the characters on screen.
There is still a lot of jolting and bouncing around, and my daughter got just a touch of motion sickness for a moment but was fine when the ride ended. I'll always recommend this ride.

This was the first ride we decided to do on our visit this year to Disneyland. The wife had just been recovering from Vertigo she got a week ago and the moment she sat down to start the ride she said she didn't think it would be a good idea. She stopped the ride at the start and they let her out while the rest of the family did the ride.
It's good fun and love the interactive aspect of it with the smuggler on board. The 3D effects are great and it's very realistic at some points along the ride.
If you have back / hip issues or suffer from vertigo stay away from this one (or even get motion sickness). Otherwise it's a must do for everyone..
